With the previous post on the topic, I ended the period of Turkey's formation as a "modern" country, a period where the people was ordered to look to the European West instead of Mecca. I haven't mentioned the fact that Iran's Shah Reza Pahlavi I, was a great admirer of Atatürk, wanting to do the same, in Iran. More to know of The expat Shah's father, is his admiration for another "great" man of the modern history. When you wish for power and you got it, you may think that … [Read more...]

My Twitter Rules – Part Two
In a previous post, I have inserted a funny video with Obama. I made it because there is a Twitter account in President Obama's name, ran by his Social Media staff, and that we are in free countries. I liked the video, and I had to put it there. It is called sometimes, political satire, :) I have ended the previous post with Facebook, actually that was what drained my mood. I don't hate Facebook, the "war" between them with Google is really annoying. The obligatorily "connect through your … [Read more...]
Turkey and Turkish politics – part three
I'm very late with part three of this short Turkish history briefing, especially because I was busy with things more trendy, like rising money for charitable reasons or chatting on Twitter, and because I was very confused on talking objectively about this chapter, which is mostly about the creator of the Turkish modern state, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I'm not going to repeat when he was born, I'm telling you that he was born in Salonika, Ottoman Empire, actually Thessaloniki, Greece. A thing the … [Read more...]
My Twitter Rules
Usually I follow back, :) I don't follow you back, if you don't tweet! I don't follow you if you're annoying. By annoying, I mean you tweet on automatic more than twenty things per minute, usually the machines made this. I remember once a guy. I was on the classic page, where I enter just for changing the log in, every two days or so, but I don't stay there. Here is why, :) The stream was full of his tweets. Junk, actually. I've replied to one, saying to take it easy, I'm going to unfollow … [Read more...]
The joy of discovery
I always liked to travel. I was lucky, I had traveler parents when I was a child. They gathered together with other family friends and spent long holidays, driving in different places through the country. Mine is very beautiful, and I was glad every time we left it, but really happy when we came back. The farthest we went those times, was Germany, the "democratic" one of the two. There were times when travel over national borders was restricted, controlled and directed mostly to the "friends" … [Read more...]
Greenberg, an American domestic drama
I can say that I like a lot Ben Stiller. Greenberg is the last movie I saw, in which Stiller is starring with verve, the last I've liked him, not having the patience to wait Little Fockers to end, mostly because of Alba ("Andy Garcia") and the screenplay. The "top critics" from Rotten Tomatoes, with all the good leverage from the public and the votes on imdb, (6.2 out of 10) can only to express themselves in a neighing concerto, almost dismembering Stiller's performance, acclaiming Gerwig's. … [Read more...]
