A Google Plus Post Is Like a Party You Host

Google+ Post Is a Party You Host on the Internet

A circulated graphic on Google Plus gave this post's title, being something very in my style. I have to admit that due to the new face of Google Plus of which I have already said what I had to say, I have grossly neglected Pinterest. Pinterest remains the great source of inspiration for a lot of things, but I have visited it less and less this month. I haven't interacted as before on Twitter, also due to Google Plus. Not being a Facebook user, I took the decision to not use it yet, especially not compulsively. Pics is an infographic made by Carmelyne Thompson Good decision to the end, because it seems Google Plus is the future in Social Media. As Guy Kawasaki said in his book, if Twitter is about perceptions and Facebook is about people (especially people you know in real life), Google Plus is about passions. If on Twitter you may be neglected because your followers are mostly bots, Google Plus has "real people" accounts, so somebody see and reads all the time what you post, but you have to post something if you want to be considered. You post and expect some interaction. You have friends, you have people who put you in their circles because they're interested in what you say. Others put you in their circles because you promote them and they need you for that. Some … [Read more...]

The New Face of Google Plus

My profile on Google Plus

The improved design of the hottest "new" Social Media appendix at the moment, Google Plus, took me by a pleasant surprise. After a few seconds of contrariety, taking the tour and exploring it in depth for a good few minutes, I felt good. It's sleek it is colored, it's attractive, it offer a better perspective, I don't have too many words to praise it. With it's multi-column view and the possibility to renew the stream flow yourself, it definitively improved. I don't believe anyone who follows over one thousand active accounts that they see them all. I think that they look only to a circle and communicate in that circle. Now, if you opt for your community members' posts to not show in your public stream, you can see them all. Unfortunately, or what can I say, for a lot of people (especially in my streams), Google Plus is a whole day job, like Pinterest, or a few sites. One doesn't have "real" time for the "job job" if stays on Google Plus as much as he/she likes. It's what Guy Kawasaki once said, "a shame to have such good tools around and not using them, Google Plus is for Social Media what a MacBook is for laptops, the top". I'm paraphrasing … [Read more...]

Google Changes

Christmas at the Aegean Sea

As if the coders are switching jobs between the two Social Media monsters, Google+ changed the "look" of your header profile, "cover photo" or whatever they call it. It is huge and covers a great part of your screen, especially if you use some more toolbars than usual. I've made already the mistake to accept the switching to the "new profile", somehow in a hurry, not taking in consideration that it was irreversible. I thought that usually the changes are for your own good, Google being so much valuable comparing it with Facebook. In the hunt for users, they started again to copy each other. It's useless, it is now obvious that Facebook users don't see the point in anything, in any change their circus provider makes "for them" apparently, not the brands are going to repudiate it now because the "likes" so sweaty accumulated, are worthless, and the promotion costs real money, not monopoly money. I don't like to nag here and there (as I saw already) about how bad is a certain change made by Google, about what a futile instrument it is in matter of Social Media. It would be stupid. I remember that Facebook management was oriented to match any change made by their great challenger. Facebook tries to be all or it'll crash. I feel that it's still something artificial regarding … [Read more...]

Pinterest Profile

I'm no angel!

They say Pinterest is drawing more traffic to a site than Facebook! Since I don't have a Facebook account, I don't know what to say. Not important at this stage, because Pinterest is not about self promotion, in my opinion. It's not like reddit, of course, where if some retard wants to troll you, you don't stand a chance, and again, if you're already famous somehow, you may post everything and people visit your submitted link even out of curiosity. I recently read an article written in August 2012, with some points of inspiration for how to be or not to be on Pinterest. I saw also something on mashable, which turned my stomach upside down, with their "5 reasons to love or to hate Pinterest", a few words just to fill the space with the "trendy Social Network" their specialists obviously haven't figured out how it works at the time (February 2012, I guess); but that's just expected from mashable. [source] Pinterest, the "slick super chic visual bookmarking website", is a user friendly collection of virtual pinboards, which may consists of your favorite hobbies and ideas. When you pin, especially with a good button (like the one I have shared with you in a previous post), you have to choose a picture from a certain post, and after choosing it, a new popup will offer you the … [Read more...]
