- Usually I follow back, 🙂
- I don’t follow you back, if you don’t tweet!
- I don’t follow you if you’re annoying.
- By annoying, I mean you tweet on automatic more than twenty things per minute, usually the machines made this. I remember once a guy. I was on the classic page, where I enter just for changing the log in, every two days or so, but I don’t stay there. Here is why, 🙂 The stream was full of his tweets. Junk, actually. I’ve replied to one, saying to take it easy, I’m going to unfollow and maybe I’m not the only one. He was quick. Asked me “what” ?. I said to tweet it one by one, or I’m going to unfollow. It was inevitable, a few days after that, again my stream was flooded. I did what I said I’ll do. I do the same, with this sort of practice, this time without warning.
- You may ask why does it matter, if someone tweets on automatic, and you follow him. What is happening is that you see only a continuous flow of their tweets, missing the important ones, from your friends.
- I don’t follow you if you don’t have an avatar. It happened in my beginnings, not anymore, it denotes lack of interest from your part, lack of interest for your twitter account.
- I’m not following you if you’re an evident bot. Of course sometimes, I haven’t the time to check everybody, but usually I run a check.
- I rarely follow someone with hands full with an offspring, or worse, a borrowed toddler as avatar. When I did, it was a mistake. Personal reasons, I consider it a form of professionally begging, this time online, not on the streets, but very similar with that, anyway. I don’t consider it what you want me to think, that “you’re a family guy, with loving kids” and what you sell couldn’t be crap. It’s actually worse than that. If I still follow the like of you, it is because I really don’t have the time to check, you’re picture was too small for the spawn to pop in my eye. I follow on my combined accounts, more than 30,000 people.
- I follow lists, and friends followers.
- I am interested in what you say, what you read, what you think.
- If after a short period you don’t follow me back, I unfollow you. It means you don’t care of what I think, what I read or what I have to say, so it’s not an offense to not follow you anymore. Maybe I keep following you, because what you say can change my life, but it’s rare.
- I’m not kissing your back to follow me, I did it once or twice and I regret. You don’t deserve it. You’re a free person, as I am as well. Sometimes any incompatibility is obvious.
- I rarely follow you back if you’re tweeting in Russian, Chinese, Japanese or Korean. You have your own “market” for your language, you may leave me alone.
- I don’t “follow for follow”. Follow me and see if I follow back. If I figure out you’re not a bot, I’ll follow you in turn. It happens usually in less than 24 hrs. If I don’t follow you back, it’s because you’re not interesting me, so you may feel offended and free to unfollow me.
- I never block. It is stupid, why not letting anyone free?
- I never reported anyone as spam. The same as above, baby, you’re free to tweet, to spam, to annoy anyone else, you can’t do it with me when I don’t care. When I’m not following you, I can’t see your crap flood, so you can’t annoy me. Why to “block” or “report you as spam”? No need.
- I consider stupid the TrueTwitt service, but I consider a lot of things stupid, so don’t bother with that, 🙂
- If I don’t answer all the replies, it is because of the flood, not of disrespect. I rarely answer the DMs. I know the “Social Media specialists” recommend to “never neglect your DM”, but… on Twitter, this is a mistake, and the really time consuming activity which made every newbie to leave Twitter for good, after a few weeks. 90% of DMs are crap. Auto answers, lies, links to landing pages, adverts which can be done on the open, it’s never a shame to advert, and so on. When you reach 10,000 followers, the genuine Direct Messages are lost. I hated when I answered quite pleasantly and I discovered over and over, that the person who was looking forward for my tweets, inviting me to follow her on Facebook as well, wasn’t actually following me at all.
- I don’t “Facebook”. I don’t have an account, I don’t use the service, I consider it brainwashing, annoying and absolutely intrusive and invasive. I can without. Of course, maybe in the future, I shall consider to change this attitude. If you “like” me or my site on Facebook, I can’t stop you. It’s just ok. I’ll “stumble”, “digg” and “reddit” you if you like, but never “like” you there, :), because I don’t have an account, :), yet, :).
- I’ll continue in another post, with a “part two”.
