Movie Spoilers With the Best Intentions – A new category

July 18, 2021 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (1990) - major movie spoilers in logline

Yes, dear friends, you read it right. I had to create this new sub-category about movie spoilers here because I found it necessary. Of course, the catch is that I want to offer some explanations about why a certain movie derailed, or how. So, that can generate a great chance to spoil some future action in the discussed movie. It is called Spoiler Alert. Don't worry, you may like it. When the movie is dumb and I have watched it, I'll say what I found dumb and why. Maybe it'll help you to avoid … [Read more...]

New Sub-Category on RodolfoGrimaldi.com: Korean Cinema

My Sassy Girl 2002, a fine example of Korean cinema

The Korean cinema is a wanting chapter here on my blog. It seems that the highest-grossing domestic films in South Korea have little to do with the best Korean movies per se. Fortunately Parasite (2019) dragged international viewers to Korean cinema, but again, it seems that only pure money-making investments are sold on foreign markets. Too bad, because Korean cinema has a flavor of its own, different from what the Hollywood fan was stuffed with over the years. Why Marvel movies are so popular? … [Read more...]

Long Time No See

Long Time No See

Not only that I haven't filled this category lately, but I also haven't published much lately. Long time no see, that's true. This blog is now in the middle of major changes. My life is in the middle of major changes. Rodolfo Grimaldi Blog reached a level where it is in need of some new forms of monetization. It has been under scrutiny and audit in the last few months, and even now, these problems are not solved yet, at least not as I wish. I have avoided at all costs to invade you with … [Read more...]

What an Unpleasant Surprise: Sridevi Died at Only 54

March 18, 2018 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

Sridevi died - Here she appeared in English Vinglish (2012)

Sadness across India when Sridevi, one of the biggest names in Hindi/Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada cinema passes away after an accidental drowning in a bathtub at her suite booked at Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai. This unpleasant event happened on 24 Feb 2018. In Dubai, she was attending her nephew's (Mohit Marwah) wedding. She arrived in Dubai two days earlier because she did some shopping for one of her daughter’s (Janhvi Kapoor) birthday to come. She was married to Indian movie … [Read more...]

Twitter Took Himself Seriously as a Micro-blogging Platform

January 6, 2018 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

microblogging platform twitter doubles character limit for posts

Sometime in November 2017, Twitter doubled the number of characters allowed to appear in a "post". I haven't written yet about it because a lot of others did and the same article appeared without shame on a hundred websites. Also the interface slightly changed, the characters number was replaced with a sort of a counting wheel. Is it a good thing? We'll see. Twitter always, from the beginning wanted to be considered a micro-blogging platform. [source: … [Read more...]

Hootsuite, Et Tu Brute!

October 11, 2017 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

HootSuite Logo

HootSuite, my favorite Social Media dashboard by far, is actually a greedy shark like all the others. Starting to become less and less cool not very long ago, now blew it up altogether. I'm going to explain myself very shortly. They have been launched in Canada, and when he was commissioned by Buffer, Guy Kawasaki had very few words to say about their main rival: Don't use HootSuite, Buffer is better. Actually he said something like this in "What the Plus" a book he wrote in order to promote … [Read more...]
