This kind of “action” movie thriller is not quite my type, but Dominic Purcell (Linc the Sink), and why not accept, a small curiosity about Robert DeNiro, made me buy it. I wanted to write about this yesterday, but I made some coding mistakes and I worked almost four hours to remedy, so this is the result of a recent rush. I liked the movie, my friends, all of them were good, it implied the British Special Forces, SAS, or at least the subject was inspired from real events and these events involved SAS. In 1980, mercenaries Danny Bryce (Jason Statham), Hunter (Robert DeNiro), Davies (Dominic Purcell), and Meier (Aden Young) are in Mexico to assassinate a man. Danny unwittingly kills him in front of his young daughter, then is injured during the getaway. Affected by this outcome, Danny retires and returns to his native Australia where he reunites with his girlfriend, Anne (Yvonne Strahovski), a childhood acquaintance.
Robert DeNiro is not for the first time in such a role. When the movie is good, he is good as well, I don’t think that he can “save” a bad movie. Maybe it’s the director’s will as well, so we are actually fortunate to see a special guest start in the veteran actor and a fresh re-assessment of the best tough action heroes of the moment. We know that about Statham, and after Prison Break, we know the same of Dominic Purcell. This one has been born in England and raised in Australia by a Norwegian father and an Irish mother. He was also a landscaper who decided to attend a drama school.
Clive Owen is known of acting more generally, I have noticed him in Closer, and I’m full of his presence ever since, from Sin City to Children of Men and deathly fights with carrots. A nice surprise for the film makers (the Director Gary McKendry, the Writer Matt Sherring, Michael Boughen – producer, Steve Chasman – producer, Peter D. Graves – executive producer, and some more, of course), to choose Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, the Islington born Yoruba and Swahili speaker. Another surprise was Yvonne Strahowski, who in “Chuck” is quite a “special agent” herself. The movie is inspired by the novel The Feather Men, a non-fiction. Ranulph Fiennes, now “Sir”, is some former SAS member describing things denied by the British Government.

It is not a conspiracy movie it is an action movie with some of the best guys in the “action” market, way better that the “B” ones like Van Damme, Stalone and Dolph Lundgren. I’ve recently seen The Expandables, made of and after Sylvester Stalone’s deep insights. People have money to throw. The title is not catchy, Killer Elite sounds like a low category film itself, but I assure you, it isn’t. Please watch the trailer here:
I had no choice, with attention, maybe it’ll stay here, on page :). Remember, I’ve said something about youtube codes, earlier.
