I have been truly impressed by Danny MacAskill in 2009 when he released the first video presented on this post. I really wanted to show just a few videos here, without too many explanations, since they are very explicit, but a post is a post and it needs words, at least in my book. What follows is about mountain bike trials, the street trial section, a sport, a hobby, an activity pushed to unimaginable levels by this Scottish phenomenon named Danny MacAskill.

This is the first video, filmed by his friend and flatmate Dave:
It was amazing as it looks, because he revolutionized the trial bicycle’s use, and there are not many people imagining that one can do what you saw here. I’m not going to put more than other three videos, because they are relevant for this sport, for this athlete and for anything better than that I can say.
It was the beginning of a new era. It is said he works as a “rider” for “Imagine Bicycles”, a company who made the tool you saw in these short films. Before the next one, I want to say a few words about the sport.
“Bike trials” is an individual sport that incorporates the use of a special bicycle which the rider must maneuver and balance on in order to complete specially designed artificial or natural “sections.” The objective is to pass through the sections with as little physical contact with the ground as possible, hence obtaining minimum penalty points.
What you have watched is an amazing video made at Epecuén, in Argentina, a former tourist village were on 6 November 1985, a seiche caused by a rare weather pattern broke a nearby dam first, then the dike protecting the town. Rapidly made uninhabitable, the village saw the waters rise progressively, reaching up to 10 metres (33 ft) at its maximum. It was never rebuilt. The guy you saw at the beginning, is the only resident; he came back when the waters receded, after twenty five years of keeping the place covered. It was exotic, and I’m talking about the location.
Seiches are typically caused when strong winds and rapid changes in atmospheric pressure push water from one end of a body of water to the other. When the wind stops, the water rebounds to the other side of the enclosed area. The water then continues to oscillate back and forth for hours or even days. In a similar fashion, earthquakes, tsunamis, or severe storm fronts may also cause seiches along ocean shelves and ocean harbors.
It is called “The Ridge” and it has been filmed on Isle of Skye, MacAskill’s native place. He was born on December 23’rd, 1985, in Dunvegan, the Isle of Skye. He used another bicycle in this video, made by Santa Cruz Bicycles.

He is a good example and an inspiration for a lot of kids these days. Bike trials are better than drugs. One needs to be the perfect machine to do such stunts. By the way, he was a stuntman in a 2012 released movie called “Premium Rush”, with Joseph Gordon-Lewitt.
