Mother and Brother is an indie short movie presented at Arizona International Film Festival this year (2015), where it deservedly won the “Best Dramatic Short” Award. It was directed and written by a debutant named Dustin Cook. You know I don’t spoil anything, and because I also have in mind to enrich this site with a few more subcategories, I start by telling you that I’ll review short movies as well.
They are all small pieces of art, you know? If you enjoy short stories, you’ll enjoy short movies too. Where to watch them? I think that it will be easier. You’ll start with youtube and vimeo, and you’ll have to pay attention to posts from sites like this one, which will redirect you to the more specific path.

About Mother and Brother, I have to say that is a brilliant Texan drama, with four characters. One is exceptional, the brother played by Laurence Fuller, of whom I’ll give you more details later, one is ok, the other brother, played by Clint Napier. The feminine cast acts a little bit forced. I can rate this story with ten out of ten, because it is an unexpected concentration of drama, without being obvious. Nothing is obvious except the Mother, played by a nice lady by the name of Lisa Goodman. Her name reminds me unavoidably of Linda Goodman, her most famous homonym best selling Astrologer. It must be a coincidence, like it is this blog’s name resemblance with the Monaco blue blooded family. I assure you it has nothing to do with them.
Laurence Fuller, the star of this movie, was born in England and raised in Australia, Heath Ledger‘s continental country. You can admire him, if you haven’t already, in Apostle Peter and the Last Supper. You have the trailer below:
As for Mother and Brother, you can watch it by clicking on this link, using the password provided by Laurence, and you’ll see for yourselves why it was awarded. Good luck fellows, and come back 🙂
