These two short lists have been published by imdb.com on December 1st, 2015. I have waited for the whole Top 100, to present it here as I did before. I have waited and waited, and they haven’t released the STARmeter Top 100 for the precedent year, so you have here just the Top 10. It is incredible as you see that some breakthrough stars are part of it as well.
The IMDb Top 10 Stars of 2015
1. Tom Hardy
[source]
This English actor emerged as a real old time star. With five movies released in 2015 (The Revenant, Legend, London Road, Mad Max: Fury Road, Child 44), he is the only male in this Top 10. His adaptability made him a real prize for best directors of the hour. He used to fight alcoholism and crack addiction when he was young, and his hero is Gary Oldman, a living legend indeed. He is not for the first time in Top 100.
2. Emilia Clarke
[source]
Emilia Clarke is another English actress and she owes her place here to the acclaimed fantasy series “Game of Thrones”. She also co-starred with Schwarzenegger in this year’s Terminator Genisys, another famous sequel.
3. Margot Robbie
[source]
An Aussie on the third place, she got famous for her nude frontal shots in The Wolf of Wall Street.
4. Alexandra Daddario
[source: pizis.tk]
Alexandra Daddario is not for the first time in Top 10, now she appeared in San Andreas with Dwayne Johnson.
5. Dakota Johnson
[source]
I haven’t watched Fifty Shades of Grey yet, but I had the opportunity to like her acting in a much lesser movie, Chloe and Theo, where she was more credible than everyone there. By the way, even if the message was positive, that movie doesn’t make sense at all. I have still to watch Black Mass, but I am not concerned about her talent and her courage. She has a bigger potential than her parents.
6. Shailene Woodley
[source]
Shailene Woodley struggles on Jennifer Lawrence‘s tail in order to ride the stardom wave created by a distopic novel in more than one volume. Otherwise she’s got some talent too.
7. Rebecca Ferguson
[source]
Rebecca Ferguson is a Swedish actress who came to our attention with the last Mission Impossible‘s sequel. She underlined Tom Cruise in her roguish role.
8. Bryce Dallas Howard
[source]
Ron Howard‘s daughter came to prominence in 2006 with her Lady in the Water role. After that she was very good in The Help. I haven’t watched Jurassic World, but if she made the top 10 (also for the first time in Top 100), she must have done something good.
9. Rosamund Pike
[source]
I loved Rosamund Pike in Barney’s Version. I liked her in An Education (not quite a substantial role). I didn’t appreciate at all her last year nominated role in Gone Girl, a movie owing its waves more to Emily Ratjkowsky than to Affleck, or even former model Pike. She is tired. Mr. Ebert would have been more cruel and I dread that.
10. Lily James
[source]
Same as Bryce Dallas Howard, Lily James broke the Top 100 this year, and not only that, she made the last place in Top 10, which is quite a performance. Contrary to Howard, a colleague breakthrough-er here, she was busier this year: “Downton Abbey”, “War & Peace” (on TV), Burnt, and Cinderella on the big screen.
These are some stars who made the Top 100 for their first time in 2015, this doesn’t mean that they are new in the movies:

1. Bryce Dallas Howard
2. Lily James
3. Jamie Alexander
[source]
Thor? Not only, she’s the mysterious tattooed woman in “Blindspot”.
4. Cara Delevingne
[source]
After her cameo debut in Anna Karenina (2012), I have noticed her singing around and acting as a hyperactive teenager in Paper Towns. She was good. The movie was disappointing.
5. Alicia Vikander
[source]
Alicia Vikander is the biggest recent surprise I had. Her acting is flawless in every movie she appeared in. I am particularly impressed with her learning Danish in two months for her perfect role in the Oscar nominee, A Royal Affair (2012).
6. Kate Mara
[source]
I’m not sure of her presence here, just because she appeared in the acclaimed The Martian? There must be her looks, or her being related to Rooney Mara, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
7. Hayley Atwell
[source]
I have noticed her in Cassandra’s Dream. I am not at all attracted by any Avengers’ sequel, or Captain America as the word came by. People may look for her imdb pictures just for two prominent reasons.
8. Britt Robertson
[source]
Full of energy, at least on the big screen. After a marvelous part in Ask Me Anything, she excelled near George Clooney in the 2015 release, Tomorrowland.
9. Hailee Steinfeld
[source]
She was too young when she nudged the Oscars for Coen Brothers’ True Grit (2010). She grew as a real talent. She stapled her presence in 10,000 Saints, she upgraded that otherwise scarce movie.
10. Scott Eastwood
[source]
I know nothing more than that he’s Clint Eastwood‘s son. I’ll watch closely if he offers the opportunity.
IMDb STARmeter rankings are based on the actual page views of IMDb’s more than 250 million unique monthly visitors. As you notice, that’s not having anything with real talent. Sometimes, as it is in Tom Hardy‘s case, real talent attracts views too.
