This first installment of Warcraft, named “The Beginning”, has been an awaited event for ten years. Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of the game Warcraft, announced their plans to develop a movie back in May 2006, but they didn’t proceed until 2013, when director Duncan Jones was brought into the project. Here he contributes to the screenplay, as well.
The movie follows the plot of the highest grossing video game of all time, the war between humans and orcs. It sounds exciting.

The realm of Azeroth is on the brink of destruction. Its human inhabitants face invasion from orc warriors, themselves having fled their dying world of Draenor through a gateway known as the Dark Portal. With humans and orcs facing annihilation, human warrior “Anduin Lothar” and orc leader “Durotan” find themselves headed for collision, a clash of two races that will determine the fate of both.
Behind the Scenes

Christopher Metzen, the game designer, artist, voice actor and author known for creating the fictional universes and scripts for Blizzard Entertainment‘s three major award-winning media franchises: Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft, also wrote the story for this particular movie.
Duncan Jones is an esteemed filmmaker with two highly appreciated science fiction movies in his portfolio: Moon (2009) and Source Code (2011). He understands CGI and makes very good use of it.
Ramin Djawadi, from HBO, known (and respected) for his work on movies like Blade: Trinity, Iron Man, and Pacific Rim, or TV shows like “Prison Break” and “Person of Interest”, is composing the score.
The screenplay is written by Charles Leavitt, who was also the screenwriter of the box-office hit Blood Diamond.
