Quentin Tarantino‘s Hateful Five was a pretty gruesome movie. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is far from that. Not only it displays some of the hottest stars in Hollywood right now, but it is assorted with a few of Tarantino’s former stars cameos, the oldest of all being Michael Madsen. I read at least one bad review about it, and I have to disagree. I don’t say this is the best Tarantino to date, because I don’t particularly like his style, but here he wasn’t just as tiring.

Quite weird, isn’t it? Everything said about what actually happens in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood can be considered a spoiler, and, as you already know, I don’t give you spoilers, especially when it’s about something like this one. I can give you a hint if you want. Remember Inglorious Basterds? Have you liked it? I’m sure you did. That’s the spirit. I won’t say more.
If you want to enjoy the movie, I recommend you to not read any other review except this one, of course. Tarantino has (or at least had, I’m not so sure) his choir of fans, guys attracted by his originality, his language, and his affronts. His “originality” is twisted, but the product is quirkily entertaining. Some blood, some gory, some strong language, good music, fewer politics, and mostly aesthetic characters, all make the spine of his deserved success.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – Cast
Leonardo DiCaprio is Rick Dalton, an actor. Brad Pitt is Cliff Booth, Dalton’s stunt double. Margot Robbie is the famous Sharon Tate. Emile Hirsch is Jay Sebring, Sharon Tate’s former fiancee, a successful make-up artist. Margaret Qualley is Pussycat, a minxy underaged hitchhiker. Timothy Olyphant is James Stacy, a westerns’ actor, like Dalton, only younger. Julia Butters is Trudi Fraser, a very talented little girl. Austin Butler is Tex Watson. Dakota Fanning is “Squeaky Fromme”, but you won’t remember her character’s name after watching the movie. Bruce Dern is George Spahn. Mike Moh is Bruce Lee. Luke Perry is Wayne Maunder, another character in some western. Damian Lewis is Steve McQueen. Al Pacino is an agent by the name of Marvin Schwarz.
Along, appear Michael Madsen and Kurt Russell. If you buy the DVD or the BluRay, you can admire Tim Roth, who appears in some deleted scene.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a 161-minute dramedy written and directed by Quentin Tarantino in 2019. It entered the IMDb Top 250 in the premiere’s week, but now it has a 7.9 out of 10.
Trailer
I like the trailer because it is deceiving which is perfect.
The End
This is the ninth long movie completely written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. He is not one of my favorite directors, but I watch his movies, nonetheless. As I already stated, this one is much better than the previous one. He is a catchy writer, as you maybe noticed in True Romance, a movie not directed by him, but by Tony Scott.
