Believe me, dear friends, I want to spend a little bit more time on Google Plus, because it’s serious indeed! Only I can’t! Like any of you, I have some other things to do, too 🙂
Sometimes, the technology plays some jokes on me, or on my equipment, sometimes I’m too busy with real life events, so, Google Plus, the invasive and addicting G+, takes a secondary place. Sometimes I’m disappointed by what happens, sometimes the browser crashes when I’m in the middle of commenting on some witty post (which got lost after the crash, or looses the “spark”), sometimes my apps are not functioning the way they have to, and, without whining, I say that my presence is felt even if I’m out.

Incited by a post (it was actually a re-share of a post appeared on BufferApp‘s blog, a blog where I wish to participate one day, with some accurate data), I have been the only one who answered the question put in that re-share. You know, I’m not very fond of Buffer’s functionality at the moment, and I’ll tell you why. I use it, I use the free version, which is limited, frustratingly limited in options, but it’s quick and keeps you connected. You maybe know, that Buffer is a posting app, on Twitter (amazing how many people still don’t get it, but they pretend themselves experts, I’m coming back with that, even if I’m going to repeat myself the thousands time), on Facebook, on G+ for a page connected (not a personal profile) and lately, for app.net, a network without adds, more or less “free”. Anyway, you can schedule up to eight posts for two accounts in the same time, and up to ten, for a single account connected. Is it fair? I don’t think so.
The best free app (platform, framework, “deck”, whatever) to schedule posts in Social Media, is by far, HootSuite! Again, let me tell you why. You can connect up to FIVE social media accounts, and schedule the post (true, one by one), almost infinitely, meaning that I haven’t yet noticed a restriction, and I schedule sometimes on multiple accounts, sometimes on single accounts… They go, on and on. As another G+ good friend says, it’s not enough to schedule posts if you don’t visit the network from time to time, otherwise you’re a scum, but that’s is what I am saying, my friend is way far more decent in his affirmations.
For Twitter, dear folks, the free version of SocialOumph is a champion. It goes smooth and quick! A pity they integrated just Facebook and blog posting (which I like to do “live”, meaning, nothing’s scheduled there).
To clean the junk on Twitter, use Tweepi, and for the one on Google Plus, Circloscope, a real tool invented by one friend and marketed by another.
Another useful tool for Google Plus is CircleCount, a free site which informs you about a lot of your adventures on G+. Nod3x does the same, and both aren’t as precise as Circloscope.
So, what about Buffer? The first option for a paid version, $10/month, lets you to schedule up to 200 posts per account, for up to five accounts, wow!
You noticed already that you can do that on HootSuite free version!
On the other side, HootSuite‘s paid version (also $10/month, and if you subscribe for a whole year at a time, it comes even cheaper) offers you the sky as a limit, you know?
On Buffer, you don’t have streams, on HootSuite you have tabs where you can watch on real time what’s in the mainstream, what have you already posted, your mentions and your DMs, sent or received, your lists (that is really amazing), your presets, your scheduled posts… On Buffer, you can see just your scheduled posts stream.
Now about “specialists” on Twitter, because I promised somewhere above that I’m coming back with an addendum. TwitAdder doesn’t makes you an expert, it makes you a bot, and I hate bots. Of course, especially when you’re mass unfollowing after you reached the hundred thousand followers with TwitAdder, you’re not a celeb as well, just another un-respectful individual. As I said many times, celebs, real celebs are a different category, they don’t know you with all your struggling to be like them, and most of the time, they don’t get Twitter as well, only their names being just marketed there!
TwitAdder is a tool where one puts parameters of following, automatically unfollows the non following back and most of the time, for celeb wannabes, unfollows everybody even if it follows you back after your “push”. It does it constantly, keeping the “rules” of not trespassing the daily following-unfollowing limits imposed by Twitter, but their following grows visibly. It’s almost the same with what some other guys make on G+ with circle sharing, they add whole circles, they add themselves in them, they share them (of course, this is always causing some followbacks, especially when you mention everyone, one by one), and they discard them after that, because on G+, one can follow only up to five thousand accounts, and be followed by infinite. But I’m repeating myself, and I don’t like it. You can take it just as a “replay”, and a reason I rarely share circles anymore.
