Here is the full list of nominees and winners of the 87th Academy Awards, after the ceremony held on February 22nd, 2015. As you will see, no surprises, nothing out of range. Everybody almost expected these particular awards, I have no comments to add. Finally, Mr. Iñárritu has been awarded how he expected himself. With Babel, he just expected, but his expectations and hopes were turned upside down by Mr. Scorsese's friends and supporters. That was a surprise that I liked quite a lot. I remember … [Read more...]
Oscars Nominations 2015
I'm not doing like last year, when I published innumerable posts on nominees and awards, Golden Globe, SAG, Independent Films, etc. Just the Golden Globes and the Oscars, just to be more practical, especially that I don't want to comment too much, since I haven't watched yet all the movies. Anyway, among the actors, I have to salute a few new names nominated this year for the Oscars. Unfortunately, no Leo this year. I have a feeling that next year he will won the Best Actor for sure, with one … [Read more...]
2015 Golden Globe Awards
Here is the full list of nominees and winners! No comments from me, this is how I've taken it from the press. I have to mention that the ceremony has been brilliantly presented the third time in a row, by the same comical and hilarious former SNL ladies, Tina Fey and Amy Pohler, good friends in real life too. No video this year, I mean, you have to look for the video on your own. George Clooney has been there yesterday night, with his human rights lawyer wife, and received in person the Cecil B. … [Read more...]
Cannes 2014 – The Awards
Jane Campion, the Jury President, said she was afraid she'll need to go to the toilet during Winter Sleep screening, being a film so long, three hours sixteen minutes, but watching it, she said that she'll stay two hours more. Along with the other members, she has been impressed by the poetry, the political complex situation and the female characters. I haven't watched the movie, but I can't wait. It'll be launched in August. [source] I know, I've started this post with the middle, or … [Read more...]
Short Personal Review Before the Oscars 2014
I have very recently watched "Lee Daniel’s The Butler" and I have been impressed of another one not being nominated for this year’s Best Movie. I mean, I couldn’t bring myself to pass the critical first twenty minutes of "12 Years a Slave", so I do not really understand the British fuss, except that the lead actor is British. It received the Golden Globe for Drama and maybe I have been wrong in my haste. I want to say that this year, the only movie close to an Oscar is "The Wolf of Wall … [Read more...]
BAFTA 2014 Awards – The Winners
Very predictable winners, at least at the major categories, and the British ones, of course. As the original Academy of whom BAFTA is just a copycat, the winners in each category is voted by their fellow peers, actors by actors, writers by writers and directors by directors, you understand very well, I hope, what I mean. I'm really sorry for not expressing my predictions a little bit earlier, but major work has intervened and I'm really happy to even be in time with this post. The whole list of … [Read more...]
