Tower Heist is a sparkling comedy directed by Brett Ratner and starring a crowd of perfectly fitted comedians. It received quite a bad review from the reputable Roger Ebert in person, which deeply disappointed me. I figure that whatever other people said about him, he is completely lacking a sense of humor. He prized Eddie Murphy though, saying something like that on his pretty bad review of the movie: Murphy, in his first role since 2009, is in full Eddie Murphy mode, with comic riffs and … [Read more...]
Death at a Funeral – the Original
Such a pity that I haven't seen Alan Tudyk in enough movies... He is a scene stealer, like his colleague from A Kight's Tale, Paul Bettany. Speaking of Bettany, I've recently watched Mortdecai, and I liked it, the movie, the acting, everything. But on Mortdecai, details maybe in a future post. Death at a Funeral, is a British comedy released in 2007 and directed by Frank Oz. It was so hilarious, that the Americans wanted in, and made a remake only three years after. Unfortunately, it was not as … [Read more...]
Dom Hemingway
The movie tries to remind the viewer of some absolutely brilliant combination between Quentin Tarantino's witty speech and Guy Richie's characters; cockney flavor. It is not. I have been extremely disappointed. It has a good part though, who came almost unexpected: the debut of a former model from Romania, Madalina Diana Ghenea. Not a big role, but representative. So, that was the best part of this very advertised joke of a film. Jude Law, is a good actor who sometimes go further in … [Read more...]
Saturday Night Live, the Most Hilarious Show
Saturday Night Live is one of the most hilarious shows ever to be aired. The concept and the wit of the sketches are not to be seen anywhere. It is humor in its purest sense. Everything is done because of the talented creators and actors. I have compiled such a list on imdb, called "The Best SNL People", consisting of fifty four actors and actresses with a permanent role in the show, not just hosts or invited guests. I have read a lot of reviews about this marvelous show. I don't … [Read more...]
The Family
The Family is a dark action comedy directed by the French famous Luc Besson. Besson is lately more a producer than a director, but we can always remember him for Subway, Le Grand Bleu, Nikita, Léon: The Professional, or The Fifth Element. If Quentin Tarantino became of originally reference across movie genres, Luc Besson is highly original before Tarantino. His movies and ideas were adapted in Hollywood for the American public taste. [source] The Family, because of Besson, is considered … [Read more...]
Life – The Movie
Apparently, everyone seeing the trailer can say that this is another Eddie Murphy movie, and more than that, it got Martin Lawrence in it. I can say that this is the best movie with Eddie Murphy I've ever seen. I like his acting and his talent, even if he starred in a lot of flops as well. This one, Life, is a profound drama with a rating which is less than deserved. I'm afraid people expected a comedy, maybe quite a typical Murphy comedy, and they were disappointed by watching a serious movie … [Read more...]
