I have very recently watched "Lee Daniel’s The Butler" and I have been impressed of another one not being nominated for this year’s Best Movie. I mean, I couldn’t bring myself to pass the critical first twenty minutes of "12 Years a Slave", so I do not really understand the British fuss, except that the lead actor is British. It received the Golden Globe for Drama and maybe I have been wrong in my haste. I want to say that this year, the only movie close to an Oscar is "The Wolf of Wall … [Read more...]
The Wolf of Wall Street
It is almost unbelievable the successful trajectory of Jonah Hill, the former Superbad type movies actor. With the role of "Donnie Azoff" in this last Martin Scorsese superproduction, The Wolf of Wall Street. Actually it is normal, counting that he has been good all along, despite that the "superproducers" discovered him just in the last three years. It is a casting matter, they do with acting like the other industries do when outsourcing services in Asia or somewhere else. Starting every year … [Read more...]
BAFTA 2014: Nominees, a List
This year BAFTA Nominees' list, comes from LA Times. Cannes Film Festival 2013
Today, The Great Gatsby, Baz Luhrmann's adaptation based on the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, will open the sixty sixth film festival of Cannes. In an interview, Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars in the movie, said: "Every time I go to Cannes, it feels like I'm entering the helicopter scene in La Dolce Vita. It's an insane experience. The entire town is turned into a red carpet. Every hotel is a premiere. But at the same time, it is the mecca for the world to celebrate film-making and bold … [Read more...]
