Foundation, one of the most famous science fiction book series of all time, was finally adapted into a television show. At least, that's what I thought. Apple TV+, a private streaming TV network owned by Apple Inc, with a backsliding revenue caused by the Covid 19 pandemic (they say), tried to invigorate their subscription base with this ambitious project. So, they gave free hand to David S. Goyer (Blade Trilogy, Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, etc - screenwriter) and Josh Friedman (War of the … [Read more...]
What’s Wrong With The Tomorrow War 2021? Read and Find Out!
The Tomorrow War is a maximum of five out of ten, no matter what you find on the IMDB. I think I'm usually generous with grades, and this is a sign. What's wrong with this expected Science Fiction movie which is not part of Marvel or DC? Plot Even in the USA, people watch FIFA's World Championship. During the final match, live on TV, a platoon materializes on the pitch. A beautiful curly Afro-American lady soldier begs the public for help in a future war happening 30 years later. A war … [Read more...]
Caprica, Battlestar Galactica’s Prequel, a Prematurely Cancelled Show
I wish the difference between Mad Men and Caprica to be that Caprica had meaning and Mad Men was just time filling, otherwise, in both shows almost everyone smokes, drinks and frakks (to use the already established denomination for the urban four letter word). Oh, they also have Brian Markinson in common, the cuckold Dr. Rosen from Mad Men. This was just a joke. I think that even if you can hastily judge Caprica as corny, the series is remarkable. Remarkable, but not enough loved by public at … [Read more...]
The Shaman – A Mind-Bending Short
The Shaman is a mind-bending science fiction short movie, directed, written, and produced by the Austrian filmmaker Marco Kalantari. It was released in March 2015, and after that, as one can find on the author's website, it started a successful run at Film Festivals such as Tribeca (where it has been nominated as "Best Narrative Short"), Sci-Fi-London, Dragon Con 2015, Portland Film Festival, San Diego Film Festival, Toronto NXT, Viennale and more... Battlestar Galactica
I liked a lot this series, one of the best sci-fi I've seen on television. With an exquisite distribution, Edward James Olmos as Admiral William Adama, Mary McDonnell as Laura Roslin, Jamie Bamber as Cpt. Lee 'Apollo' Adama, James Callis as Dr. Gaius Baltar, Tricia Helfer as Number Six, Grace Park as Lt. Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii, Katee Sackhoff as Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace, Michael Hogan as Colonel Saul Tigh, Aaron Douglas as Chief Galen Tyrol, Tahmoh Penikett as Captain Karl 'Helo' Agathon, … [Read more...]
Science Fiction – District 9
I have never imagined that District 9 is such a good movie. It is one of the best films I ever seen, it goes with my top list of all time favorites, and it's mostly a science fiction, a genre I've always liked, but I rarely have had the opportunity to watch such a good one. Here, the science fiction is actually just a cover for deeper messages, but it is a good cover. The Adaptation The film story is an adaptation from a shortie named Alive in Joburg, directed by Blomkamp and produced by … [Read more...]
