You’ve seen, my good friends, the Cute Profiles plugin on my left side of the site, with a sort of non colored texture, coloring itself when you hover. Since I “don’t Facebook”, that icon is missing. I can say, “totally missing”, but you may find it if you feel the urge to share something from my precious thoughts on Facebook, on your own profile, 🙂
There is a button at the end of each post, actually there are more buttons there, from Shareaholic, another nice “sharing” plugin, which is somehow different than the Cute Profiles stuff. These are buttons where you may find my profile to other wonderful Social Media sites. I have to say that besides Twittere, only StumbleUpon is something of real value. Reddit and Digg are a waste of time for people not famous. You can be lame, you can be retarded, as much as you are a celebrity, be it just an internet celeb, you may have a go at Digg. Reddit is for gay people, as someone quite accurately said somewhere (I’m really upset I don’t have the link, because I don’t remember, and I’m sorry I don’t remember, the person being a celebrity), my experience there being irrelevant. There are no “friends” at Reddit, you may be your own “friend” just to find easier your link. That’s it about this site, like Digg, it is a link submission site with numerous categories. People may “rate” them or not. If they give “points”, the link may have the chance to be visited by more people. More people, means visitors, means traffic, which is after all, what it is all about. I tried the funny and humor categories to submit some stuff, and I really had some “results” at the time. But, I don’t get it yet, and I think it was dumb and ignorant. I don’t think, actually, I am convinced that the guys who came to my site following the link, were irrelevant for the future evolution of it. I’m keeping the icon, I’m keeping the profile at Reddit just for fun, you never know where may that lead. As for gays, I was also convinced that they are more sensitive, and they are more profound. Not the reddit gays, they aren’t so. They’re ignorant and they love Obama. Not that loving him or being ignorant is bad, it was just different than the irony or better, satire, of my submitted materials. This is just a hunch I had, I’m sure I can be treated as an ignorant, as far as I’m concerned, in the evolving science of Reddit-ism. It is forbidden to give signals through other media, like Twitter, Facebook, myspace, it is forbidden to send e-mails or make phone calls, to “stimulate”, to invite people to “support” your links. Of course, because traffic equals money, it is forbidden to be unorthodox. Not any more, if you pay. You may buy the “points”, they have something like “treat you to the reddit gold”, looks like a “paid per click” issue.
An “association” on Digg, may be very lucrative, if you’re good. If you are already famous, your association with others will empower them. On Digg, articles from papers, or from famous blogs, make the “first page” automatically, people act like sheep. For valuable articles submitted by illustrious unknown folk, a sort of a non written rule must be at work, something like “digg your friends submissions, it is likely that they’re their own articles, not sheep alike “mashable dugg’s”, or worse. You may even check, if you have the time, of course.
And, if you make some more points, and your article got promoted to the “first page”, there is a chance to have 200K+ visitors/day, for a few days. If you’re really good, so unknown as you are at the moment, an important part of them will return. And your ranking will explode. And so on, 🙂
Even if Reddit sent me quite some big traffic comparing it with the few visits from Digg, I still consider them a bunch of morons barely being able to pass the chimpanzee test with the cubes and spheres.
Now, this sort of stuff is much too weird for “reddit-ors” (this is a term they invented for themselves)
