Today, we celebrate one hundred years since Julia Child, the American chef, author, and television personality, was born as Julia Carolyn McWilliams in Pasadena, California.

She was revolutionary in her times. On the other way, Julie Powell from Austin, Texas, is an author best known for her book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, and a subsequent movie.

In August 2002, Powell began the Julie/Julia Project, a blog chronicling her attempt to cook all the recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. The blog quickly gained a large following. Unfortunately, Julia Child was reported to have been unimpressed with Powell’s blog, believing her determination to cook every recipe in her almost eight hundred pages book in a year to be a stunt. I loved the movie. I know the blog, two years ago was still cached somewhere on the net. I hope you’ll find it and enjoy it.
On August 13, 2004, Julia Child died of kidney failure at her retirement community home, Casa Dorinda, in Montecito, two days before her 92nd birthday.
Enjoy the video, as well :).
