Why is Eurovision neglected by the spectators everywhere? It’s still a mystery. Why Englishmen don’t support anymore as much as they should to, their National Football Team? It’s the same thing with Eurovision. Nobody cares. And songs like the whispered scream from Azerbaijan came second. Why? Because of Turkey not participating this year, their “brothers” were voted by the Turks all over Europe. They’re quite a huge bunch, and as we could see, it’s a caring one. They pay fortunes to Mobile Services to vote and buy tunes all the time. So, who claimed “it’s political” is wrong. It’s geographical. A few nostalgic Romanians voted Bonnie Tyler, along with a few Spaniards, Swiss and Swedes. Of course, the biggest number of points came from Ireland, the last one in the list, for the first time, I think. Unfortunately, it was quite a good song. Yes, why they don’t vote? Why nothing came from Turkey where is full of Brits this time of the year? Because they loose their minds drinking cheap wine or hard liquor in restaurants on Mediterranean shore, paying heavily and talking soccer, but not national, professional, like Chelsea, Manchester United or any other United… The TV is on, but, who cares?

I liked Romania for the second time in years, the guy had courage to allow himself to be apparently ridiculed as a singing “vampire”. The first time was when a singer called Nicola came tenth with Don’t Break My Heart. In that year, Sertab Erener took the prize to Istanbul, and it represented the best win for them as well. Thing is that Erener was hugely contested by musical “experts” before the contest, becoming after the win, an obvious matter of National pride. They forgot the blames.
I liked Italy, actually I welcomed their coming back in the contest. The winner, Denmark, with the “sensitive Hobbit song” was good, but what do I know?
Norwegian singer/songwriter Margaret Berger – feeds us her heart, soul and individuality. Her aptly titled, Grand Prix winning song I Feed You My Love, coinciding with her undeniable stage presence and intoxicating vocals in Oslo February 9, is already making huge waves beyond her mother country, across Europe, U.S. and on the web worldwide.
The final took place yesterday in Malmö, Sweden, because last year Loreen won, with Euphoria. The piece was a hit long before the contest, so it was voted by default. Good, and strong.
The best song in the whole show is in the following video, called as I said already, I Feed You My Love. Margaret Berger’s piece in the contest is right down here, I wonder if you don’t think I’m right.
About Azerbaijan’s presence in the contest I don’t have any doubt. Being the furthest country from Europe, it’s presence is normal in an European event, especially when you have oil to offer. Another “European” member is Israel, but who can say anything against it? It’s a country of immigrants, European mostly, so it can be considered as European as it wants. Another country of immigrants is USA. It’s just logic to be invited to participate in Eurovision, don’t you think? There are more Europeans in America than there are in Azerbaijan. It is stated somewhere, on Wikipedia or on the official website that the “Euro” in Eurovision has nothing to do with European Union. So, United States of America, please be welcome in Eurovision Song Contest when you make up your mind!
