City of God is the most famous Brazilian movie outside this country. I have reviewed in this subcategory, other two related Brazilian movies, Tropa de Elite and Elite Squad II: The Enemy Within. This last one, is the greatest Brazilian box-office success ever, it surpassed the adaptation for screen 1n 1976, of Jorge Amado’s Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands. This is by far the best Brazilian move I have ever seen and one of my favorite movies anyway! [source] The tagline is epic: “If you … [Read more...]

Why Are You Creating Circles to Share?
There is more than one reason to create circles. I wander what is yours? I have planned this article long time ago, but I have waited too much. In the meantime, things changed and even my willingness to explain facts and give tips changed. What changed? A lot of influential circle creators stop this activity. They reached a certain number of followers and they stop creating, adding, sharing circles altogether. This is one aspect; another one is that other influential circle creators and … [Read more...]
Layer Cake
Layer Cake is a very good British movie, made with Hollywood in mind, more in early Guy Richie’s style. Now this one uses a lot of John Woo special effects and in this computer era, one has to be Hanecke to still want to spend money for special locations or decors. It is dynamic and has a catchy action, not very logical, but who cares? It is with mob, drugs, killing, action and all of them at a very fast pacing, with a little dash of sex, just for completion. Director Matthew Vaughn, the close … [Read more...]
Facebook Privacy Changes
A good piece of news appeared on my Google News stream, and I considered it an evolution. Every user on Facebook becomes searchable for any other user. The privacy setting called "Who can look up your Timeline by name?" will be getting rid of. This means that if I want to look for a friend I know he exists and has a Facebook account, I can find his profile and contact him. That "privacy" setting was for guys like Zuckerberg, guys who had to be on Facebook and they wanted a little privacy for … [Read more...]
James Clavell’s Noble House
I have recently re-read this huge novel, in an edition spread on over fourteen hundred pages and I liked it a little bit less than the first two readings. I found it entertaining but dull and less credible, more like a South American telenovella, where rarely a character is other than black or white, never shady, nor mixed. The good is very good, the bad is bad. [source - imdb] The action takes place in Hong Kong, and flashily evolves during a week, starting with a pair of newly rich … [Read more...]
World War Z!
I knew it from the beginning that I'm going to waste precious time watching this ridiculous movie. I never was fond of zombies, nor of Brad Pitt. I remember his advert to Levis 501, I didn't know at the time it was him taking that bath on the river, the Amish girl excitedly waiting behind a tree, the focus was on the pair of jeans he has hidden under his underwear. When they launched Legends of the Fall, I was in France. I went to cinema and watch the movie in French, so his bad acting wasn't so … [Read more...]
