Laura Bretan in the Finals – America’s Got Talent

September 11, 2016 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

America’s Got Talent ( #AGT ) is a live show aired by NBC every year for eleven years in a row. It is part of the “Got Talent” franchise created by Simon Cowell, who decided to join the jury this season, following Howard Stern‘s retreat. I have to confess that this is one of my favorite reality shows and Simon Cowell one of my favorite judges no matter where he appears, on Idol or on AGT. The other members of the Jury are Howie Mandel (from Season 5), Mel B (Season 8) and Heidi Klum (who also started in Season 8 as the fourth judge like in the Great Britain).

Tuesday, on September 13, 2016, we will be delighted to watch the Season 11’s finale. I must say that this was the best season so far. I have a favorite, and she is a real talent, which is what the show’s concept is all about. Her name is Laura Bretan, she was born in Chicago, and she’s 14.

The Finalists – Part One

The 10 Finalists

The finalists are as follows:

Laura Bretan is an alto singer who pushes the opera on the mainstream. Jon Dorenbos is an amazing magician. Tape Face is a branded comedian. Sal Valentinetti is a Frank Sinatra-style singer. The Clairevoyants are a pair of “mentalists”. Viktor Kee is a juggler artist. Sofie Dossi is a contortionist. Grace VanderWaal is an ukulele singer with charm. Brian Justin Crum is a pop singer who reminds me of Robbie Williams. The last but not the least is a group of four guys with extraordinary R&B voices named Linkin’ Bridge.

Laura Bretan in the Auditions

The next stage after the auditions is called “Judges Cuts”. Laura Bretan has received a Golden Buzzer from Melanie Brown (the Spice Girls’ Mel B), which sent her directly in the Live Shows. The Golden Buzzer was introduced in America in Season 10. If only the judges could use it then, in Season 11, the host Nick Cannon was allowed to give one.

Live Show 1

After three Live Shows, just twenty two contestants remained to produce themselves during two semifinals, eleven in each one. Actually one act was a “wild card”, someone chosen to go in the semifinals after the public at home voted them out in the live shows. This year, the choice was a group of two jugglers called “The Passing Zone”.

In Season 10 the official sponsor became Dunkin Donuts, so the former “Snapper Save” became “Dunkin Save”. After the official public vote from the day of the live shows and semifinals until the day of the results, the contestants placed on number 4, 5 and 6 (in the vote for the final), or on number 5, 6, 7 and 8 (in the vote for the semifinals) are taken apart and eligible for “Dunkin Save”, a vote in which you select the act you want to save and to send in the final.

Finalists 2

The other two acts qualified in the final. Notice a few of the acts who didn’t make it.

After each semifinal, only five acts are going to make the finals. The first three voted by the public, the “dunkin saved”, which offers a chance to number 6, and one of the remaining two other “dunkins” chosen by the judges. If the score between the judges will be 2 – 2, the public choice is considered.

Dunkin Save for the Finals

The number of votes between the top five acts was less than one hundred. In the “Dunkin Save” vote it was even less.

Laura Bretan in the Finals – Simon Cowell’s Choice

It will not be a miracle if Laura Bretan ( @TheLauraBretan ) will be the winner. I just hope for that! She wouldn’t be the first in this position, the precedence has been created, Season 3 has been won by Neal E. Boyd, an opera singer. Laura Bretan in the finals will raise up the level for all.
