There are many fantastic yacht brokerages around the world to choose from- so many that compiling such a short list can’t help but do a disservice to the numerous quality companies left off. However, the five companies that appear on this list have won their places for being major players in the industry, having client lists and networks that span the globe, and operating in both the yacht sales and yacht charter markets. Along with the long-established players, there are a couple of relative newcomers that are really making waves in the yachting industry.
Camper & Nicholsons International
This prestigious yachting brokerage has a history that stretches back centuries—far longer than any of its competitors. The oldest yachting company in the world, the celebrated name of Camper & Nicholsons International began with the founding of a shipyard in 1782, and as their website points out ‘We were already learning the ropes when Napoleon was at school’. Theirs is a storied and glamorous history, but this brokerage is anchored firmly in the present, with 11 flagship offices in major yachting centers, and a slick marketing and yacht management operation. Operating a huge fleet of charter, sales and managed yachts, C&N is a heavyweight in the yachting industry with a tremendous amount of experience.
Worth Avenue Yachts
This exciting American luxury yacht brokerage makes it onto the list because they sell yachts 50-77% faster than the average brokerage; a success which they largely put down to their unique team approach where all brokers pool their efforts on behalf of clients, rather than the one-broker-per-client approach of more traditional agencies. This pooling of talent means that any Worth Avenue client has over a century of combined broker experience working to sell, source, manage, or charter their yacht. Launched in 2011 by industry professionals with impressive yachting pedigrees, Worth Avenue Yachts has already surpassed $1.2 billion in yacht sales. WAY has a soft spot in many American hearts due to its local origins and innovative way of doing business, but it’s also gaining ground on the Mediterranean market from its satellite offices in Monaco, London and other European summer hot spots. Definitely one to watch.
Y.Co
This dynamic brokerage pitches itself as the challenger brand of the yachting industry, with an impressive global reputation for its modern and fresh brokerage model— a message that is reflected in its slick marketing operations and signature yellow branding. Established in 2004 by ex-yacht crew Charlie Burkett and Gary Wright, this yacht brokerage has enjoyed a meteoric rise, with nine offices across four continents, including Monaco, Doha, Antibes, Moscow, London, and Seattle. Y.CO is one of the biggest players in the international yacht market, and breaks the traditionally formal yachting mold with an energetic, innovative brand image and an infectious passion for the yachting life.
Fraser
One of the more traditional powerhouses of the yachting industry, Fraser is one of the world’s leading full-service yachting brokerages, operating under the parent company Azimut-Benetti. Now celebrating its 70th anniversary, Fraser (previously Fraser Yachts) has closed more brokerage deals than any other company for the sixth year running, and has a database of 13,000 yachts and 50,000 clients. There’s an aura of tradition about Fraser Yachts, of deals done in grand wood-paneled offices and the influence which comes not only from their long history, but from their expanding global presence, with 10 offices now open worldwide.
Burgess
Founded in 1975 by renowned sailor Nigel Burgess, Burgess is a dominating force in the luxury yacht market, specializing in yachts over 30m. Their pale blue banners are a common sight at luxury yacht shows from Monaco to Miami, and they have an impressive 13 offices around the world, as well as financial, crew, technical and construction divisions. With brokerage deals on some of the largest yachts in the world and receiving the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Burgess enjoys an exceptional reputation in the industry.
This list is not exhaustive, but it gives a great starting point on some of the best luxury yacht brokerages in the world. You have the Top 5 here!
