You know how every online guru says that you have to publish to your blog regularly, often, and consistent if you want to have meaning. This wisdom translates “if you want to improve your Alexa Rank”. Improving your Alexa Rank shows the world you have good traffic on your website, these attracting advertisers. The outside advertisers propose things to do on your blog, a sponsored post, a sponsored link, a banner, whatever. I don’t think that Alexa requires backlinking, like showing up high in search engines requires, but any Alexa app (the working ones, of course) is still showing the number of your backlinks.

So, they claim that the ranking shows just your estimated traffic on your website, not your activity. The number is changing every three months? I don’t believe this. I know that they re-consider the positioning every three months, but I still don’t know what this reflects.
I am not 100% sure, but if someone says that you have to publish often, they’re absolutely right. It was a time, a few years ago, when publishing twice per day, slightly improved the rank two times per day, as well. Not dramatically, but the stake moved. Nowadays, it stays stuck for days, even weeks, especially if you don’t publish.
The late PR reflected your backlinking and Alexa reflected your traffic. Daily publishing or not, if you had visitors on your site, your Alexa Rank used to show that. What happens today, is a blur. If you are not already famous, Google bots treat you selectively, you have to consistently submit your website to the search engines. Of course, there are plugins doing that automatically when you publish. Your publishing your link on Google Plus did exactly this, even quicker. The plugin is set for a certain hour, once daily, usually at midnight. Sending your new post to G+ did the trick on the spot. Not anymore, since G Plus is now defunct.
Try this: after publishing an article, try to search it on Google. I doubt you’ll find it. Maybe the next day, or the day after tomorrow, if the plugin worked. Post it on Social Media! Your newsletter subscribers will be alerted when you set that timer, so, that’s also solved, and now, wait! You can wait for days for indexing, only your keywords may help in a certain degree, but it is not indicated to abuse it. Not all your posts have to make the first page on Google! Anyway, believe me on this: The “quality” content is not king regarding Alexa. On Google, maybe? You have to be kidding me. If you are not already famous, nobody is “naturally” linking with your wise post, as Matt Cutts suggests. They just steal your idea, your observation, your glamour, without linking back, without commenting, without even saying “Thank you”, especially the artificially famous. If you are famous (even metaphorically), doesn’t matter what you say, the flies link with you with the hope you’ll notice them. They’ll sleep better if you smile or nod at them.

Do you want to improve your Alexa Rank? You have to be heavily backlinked and you have to publish as often as possible. They say a minimum of 500 words, but according to the Yoast plugin, 300 words are apparently enough. You have to avoid to neglect your constant updates, because a drop, especially a “no rank” drop, can destroy your efforts for a long time. I think that the rank is inertial, if you can offer it some momentum, you have to keep it. The traffic, which is what actually matters, must be also constant, if not slightly increasing every day. Keep up the good work and leave the 10,000 annoying things aside!
