Boys in the Trees is an Australian horror-ish fantasy drama about teen friendship in a town with an irrelevant importance name. This is the debut feature of a very promising filmmaker, the young Nicholas Verso, who has written and directed the movie. It has been released in 2016 and it was featured at the Venice Film Festival, in the same year. [source for all pics: imdb.com] Boys in the Trees - Plot I gave a 9 out of ten to this wonderful, and, at the same time, very sad movie. … [Read more...]

Equity, the Movie Where Women in Finance Are Eating Each Other Alive
Equity is a movie about women in finance. Shrewdness, ambition and lack of scruples is what one has to possess in order to make more money than one needs. It can be considered "feminist" because it is written and directed by women, but believe me, I don't notice here the lack of logic the movement is full of. [source: imdb.com] Plot The best about Equity is that it has a central female character with substance, almost like in another of my lately favorite movies, Miss Sloane. … [Read more...]
Wonder Woman – The Movie to Validate a Dangerous Trend
They had to do it, Wonder Woman is a symbol proving in an hypothetical way what one of the strongest and insulting currents today claims, that men are useless, or better said, a strong woman doesn't need a man. I would have preferred a story less feminist, but this wasn't the only weak point in yet another DC Comics super production. [source for all pics: imdb.com] Origins Look what I found on the subject: Wonder Woman has been invented as a comics character by William … [Read more...]
A Dark Song – An Acclaimed Indie Movie with Black Magic
A Dark Song is a horror Irish drama released in 2016. It benefited by an incredibly good critic from both professionals and public, as it will receive from me as well. In this movie, the outcome is the thing that counts, even if the horror effects and the magic paraphernalia are the elements which apparently prevails. It is an indie, and it is very well prepared to show what you have to watch. A Dark Song - Plot Sophie is a young mother who's kid has been abducted and killed in a … [Read more...]
Going in Style – After Almost 40 Years
Going in Style is so incredibly weak and predictable at the same time, that one can think it's just a mockery. I have started from the image below, which doesn't have a connection with this movie, and replaced Liam Neeson with Alan Arkin. What do we have then? A sort of a variation of a sort of a crime comedy with septuagenarians, like Stand Up Guys, where only Arkin is the common piece, and Al Pacino and Christopher Walken are replaced with Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. All of them have … [Read more...]
The Fate of the Furious – A Brain-Numbing Action Flick 136′ Long
I don't think I have ever watched a super production more stupid and senseless than The Fate of the Furious. It is full of stars and it's so empty, so illogical and so futile, it's incoherent and it's witless. Folks! It's terrible; you know my allergies to junk like The Avengers (which I have labelled trash at least once), but believe me; The Avengers franchise is a masterpiece near this junk. [source of all pics: imdb.com] The Insane Plot We have here a female villain very … [Read more...]
