Poor Mel Gibson! They say he's an alcoholic, they say he's violent, they say he's a lot of things that don't define him. He's talented, he used to be very good looking, he had a vision. He is a good actor, strangely. He has funny names. Born in the state of New York in 1956, from an Irish mother (née Reilly), and an Australian of an Irish descent, he was baptized Mel Colm-Cille Gerard Gibson. "Mel" and "Colm-Cille" are Irish saints names. He has another ten brothers, and when he was twelve, his … [Read more...]

Robert Downey Jr.
As I said in New Sub-Categories, I have added the Personalities sub-category, with this as a first post. Robert Downey Jr. is one of my favorite actors of all time. Yet more Woody

The Controversial Film Director
I waited a few days before approaching the Lars von Trier freaky banning from Cannes Festival. I'm going to quote from various sources a few things, and I'll let you know my own opinion about the event. I'm trying hard to find the movie these days. "With his film, Melancholia, playing In Competition, the director spoke at the festival’s press conference for the film, and stated, amongst many other things, that he sympathized with Hitler, joked about being a Nazi, and even called Israel a … [Read more...]
Bruckheimer
If you want any great movie subject to look cheap and utterly unbelievable, as in brainwashing unbelievable, you give it to Jerry to produce that movie. If Inception would have been produced by the “action” master, it would have been now a merely 7.0 imdb rated, and that owed maybe to Leo, if he would accept to act in that conditions. Returning to Bruckheimer, it seems he’s trying to throw back the old Hollywood pattern, which guided the movie makers for decades: “A film is a story, … [Read more...]
