Pulpit Rock, Norway

Pulpit Rock in Norway

Preikestolen, also known by the English names of Preacher's Pulpit, or Pulpit Rock, or Preacher's Rock (only such a thing exists in USA already, on the Georgia portion of the Appalachian Trail), and by a Norwegian local name translated as "the carpenter-plane’s blade", is a massive cliff of 604 meters above Lysefjorden, in Ryfylke, Norway. It is one of the coolest places on earth, visited unfortunately by just between a hundred and fifty thousand and two hundred thousand people per year. After … [Read more...]

Bangkok, the City of Angels

September 5, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

Most travelers first arrive in Bangkok at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport, a glittering and spacious introduction to a city where claustrophobia and crowds generally rule. I have arrived there by ship, so I was "parked" somehow on the river running through the center of the city and despite not knowing the language, I never considered Krung Thep ("City of Angels") that annoying sort of challenge. They say it's tiring and difficult to pass freely. They have a traffic, I assure you, but it's a … [Read more...]

Eternal Istanbul

July 14, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

I wrote about this magnificent city in Romanian, you may consult the post at least for the wonderful pics! I used to live there and I used to keep visiting it every time I had the opportunity. The Turks are very proud of it, the Greeks living in Istanbul are calling it "I πόλις" (I Polis, "the city") as there is no other in the world, loving it more than most people can imagine. This is a post with a few pictures and a different perspective for one of the most beautiful cities of the world. I … [Read more...]

Places to Visit

January 23, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 6 Comments

If you want to be a tourist, you may be easily disoriented by the non-stop advertising. A tour can be planned only to suit your personality. It is more advantageous to plan a tour suited to your culture, your readings, your background. The approach may be different. I know people with money (of course, they are never enough), and with a tremendous will to travel. They "travel" just to spend, they barely have the power to please their spirit by the beauty of nature, of art, of history, and they … [Read more...]

Just a Photo Session

January 1, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 6 Comments

I hope you recognize the wonderful city! I expect you to recognize the places and my source, as well. Because the pictures aren't mine, the eyes behind the camera are the eyes of a very sensitive and successful man. Of course there is no doubt now! But the interesting … [Read more...]

Far East, in Taiwan

November 23, 2011 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 2 Comments

This one being somehow a new category in my blog, is also one of my favorites. I haven't published much lately and I have no excuses, and I'm not even justifying myself for that. But this doesn't matter, important is the story when you find it, and when you find it, it's a glory for the author, when you read it. I've worked with many people, some said I have a real talent working with them. I may differ, because even if today I'm wiser, when I was young I haven't much patience with people … [Read more...]
