The Old Man is a thriller drama series loosely inspired by Thomas Perry's homonym novel. Very entertaining considering that the show's hero is somehow different than the one in the book. Doesn't matter very much because of the two main stars: Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow. A bright contribution was provided as well by Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat. She was good even if she wasn’t required to be funny here. [source:imdb.com] The Old Man - Plot I’m afraid most of you haven’t read … [Read more...]
Miss Sloane – An Involving Political Thriller
Miss Sloane is probably the best movie produced in 2016 that I have had the pleasure to watch. Excepting a nudge for Jessica Chastain at the Golden Globes 2017, for Best Female in a Drama, this exceptional political thriller went almost unnoticed by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Something went fishy this year at the Oscars, reason that … [Read more...]
The Accountant – Ben Affleck Recovering from Batman
Prologue The Accountant is a thriller directed by Gavin O'Connor, which premiered in October 2016, being worldwide released the same month. It was written by Bill Dubuque. O'Connor is the director of Warrior, a movie of whom people still discuss right now. Ben Affleck is again at his highest, like he was in the Oscar winner Argo, which he also directed and produced. I really liked the movie, even if they say it wasn't accurate, and added this or that regarding the Canadians' … [Read more...]
Confessions of a Shopaholic
This is a "romantic comedy" released in 2009 under Jerry Bruckheimer's production company. It is under-rated (just a poor 5.6 on imdb), as almost all comedies. As a comedy it is one of the most funny things I saw in the genre, meaning the "romantic" genre, otherwise in this matter, I already have my opinions. You have already enjoyed my best 20 comedies list. [source] [all the other pictures as well, are credited to the same source] It's hard to imagine a film rated more than 6 out of … [Read more...]
