I should put this post in "Movies" category, but it's just a short essay about what I have in mind regarding to this year's 2016 Oscars nominees. I haven't watched all the movies, there are 27 all in all, considering even a less important award for the viewers (like Best Music - Original Song, where Fifty Shades of Grey is nominated for example), and there is a great possibility to not be able to, or in some cases (like two years ago, with Twelve Years a Slave), to not want to. I have finally … [Read more...]

Barely Lethal
Sometimes one needs a less pretentious movie to lift its mood up. Barely Lethal is one of them. Watching it I felt amused and refreshed. It happens maybe because I like how Hailee Steinfeld grows up by being better and better every day. Since True Grit which brought her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress at 14, she kept intact her glowing. This movie is an independent action comedy, where even Samuel L. Jackson is less tiring as usual. I'll come back to him later. I am sorry to … [Read more...]
Closed Circuit
I have recently watched Closed Circuit and I was thrilled of how good it was made for a movie with such a delicate subject. After Paris events, one can be a little bit more than a little biased toward a public bombing where 120 people were killed, a fictive event, of course, but not at all improbable. It happens in London, where usually only IRA was putting the bombs. Now, in this case, some Turkish guy was arrested. His wife and kid have been taken in custody as well. Interesting, isn't it? … [Read more...]
The Shaman – A Mind-Bending Short
The Shaman is a mind-bending science fiction short movie, directed, written, and produced by the Austrian filmmaker Marco Kalantari. It was released in March 2015, and after that, as one can find on the author's website, it started a successful run at Film Festivals such as Tribeca (where it has been nominated as "Best Narrative Short"), Sci-Fi-London, Dragon Con 2015, Portland Film Festival, San Diego Film Festival, Toronto NXT, Viennale and more... STARmeter 2013 – Top 100 in the Movies
A little late this year with the popularity list (the second time I publish it), but I don't think it really matters. I see a lot of people missing from the first one hundred, meaning "who's hot right now" from last year. You can compare the two lists if you want. The list and the pictures are theirs (imdb), the words are mine. I had a few foe everyone, even if I know her/him or not. A lot of young blood here, you'll see. 1. Margot Robbie 2 July 1990, Gold Coast, Queensland, … [Read more...]
