An adorable advert appeared in New Zealand with a bunch of cute kiwi kids quoting Donald Trump. Are you ready for him, America? The people of the most powerful country on earth will be asked to choose between Hillary Clinton and her former campaign donor Donald Trump. Someone who Der Spiegel recently called "the most dangerous man in the world", might soon be leader of the world’s most powerful nation and commander-in-chief of the world’s largest military. This post is not about Hillary, or … [Read more...]
The Big Short – Another Wall Street Movie
The Big Short is another movie on the Best Pictures nominees list this year. I am a very big admirer of all the guys involved with it, actors, the director, the book's author, etc, but I feel that I have to mention a few things from the beginning. This is not The Wolf of Wall Street, this is not some biography, this is a movie largely based on real facts with some more than large suppositions and invented characters. Nor them, nor the figures are appropriate, or even close to … [Read more...]
The Revenant, My Favorite Best Picture in 2016
The Revenant is a 2015 superb adventure drama directed by previous year's Best Director, Alejandro González Iñárritu. It is by far the most artistically beautiful movie in all the eight Oscar 2016 nominees. I regret now that I haven't begun the Oscars reviews marathon with this one, because it revealed itself to be my favorite in all eight. This is partially based on the novel with the same name written by Michael Punke in 2002. [source] The Revenant's History It is funny that in … [Read more...]
Winners of the Golden Globes 2016 – The List
Finally, the (73rd) Golden Globe 2016 Awards, Winners List. Only the winners are here. Because the Golden Globes are produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, there must be a little bit more objectivity in how the awards are being distributed. You have the nominees list here, so I'm not going to fill the spaces again, with everybody. I like it a lot that one of the most brilliant comedians in Great Britain was chosen yet again to host the … [Read more...]
David Bowie Died at 69
I had prepared another post for today, but I read these sad news just before I wanted to hit the publish button. David Bowie died last night surrounded by family, after one and a half year struggle with liver cancer. Born David Robert Jones in London, England, David Bowie had dominated the world music scene for over four decades. He first found success with “Space Oddity” in July 1969 and went on to become one of the biggest stars of the glam rock era partially thanks to his flamboyant, … [Read more...]
Debian Linux Creator Dead!
Unfortunately, a few days ago, Ian Murdock, founder of the Debian GNU/Linux distribution project, has died at the age of forty-two. I have waited for news, but it doesn't matter anymore since he's dead already. Murdock was born in Germany on 28 April 1973. He wrote the Debian Manifesto when he was studying at Purdue University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in computer science in 1996. He named Debian after his then-girlfriend Debra Lynn, and himself (Deb and Ian). They married and … [Read more...]
