Do Follow

January 7, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 19 Comments

The title says all, don’t you think? We sport WordPress, the best blogging platform ever, the open source software at our hands, at a click or two. Of course, to use it, you need your own domain, and this is another discussion altogether :). I’m not sending you outside my blog, but I’m sending you on another tab, because I’m afraid you may accept instantly what is written there, leaving this article unfinished. I’m sure you will be busy working on your new looking blog. So great a pity, you are one of the readers who hasn’t benefited of my Christmas Offer! I have to revise that article too, to adapt it to my landing page.

My dears, I have said something about egotism in the past, remember? If not, please read it again, Sam! Anyway, in that spirit, I’m saying again and again: Do Follow! I mean, use “do  follow” links for commenting on your blogs. You afraid of spam? This is Akismet’s concern, there are other plugins to help you with it as well, it’s nothing to be afraid of.

do follow wordle from crunchyblogger.com

By the way, all the blogs hosted by me, or better said, all the blogs I have been let to manage, have “do follow” links. You know maybe that WordPress has “no follow” set in default, and you have to be way wiser to change that, but it’s more simple than you may believe. There are plugins ready to do this for you. At the plugin section of your WordPress blog, hit the “add new” button and search for do follow. You may read what any of them do, and chose the best fit for you. I recommend  the first one, named exactly what you searched for, Do Follow. It is not intrusive, and doesn’t have too much to customize on it. It’ll work.

I found a lot of egotistical guys on the net. Don’t be them. Work! Communicate! Search! Improve yourself everyday if you want to succeed. To succeed to anything you want, to your self-expression! You’re a writer, to succeed to promote your book! You’re a PRO blogger, to succeed to make money! You’re a wise guy or a big mouth, to succeed to be found, to become “famous”. It’s not simple. Leave people to communicate with you. If they have only the lame intent to “link” with you, it is not bad, it is one of the factors pushing you up in search engines results page. Of course the “heavy” the page you comment on, the heavy the “juice” from it. You are free to not approve what is out of the subject. You are free to publish your comment policy, and so on. Attracting people to you, attracts the recognition you need. And as Mrs. Sabra says (the Muslim mom), if you don’t know what “dofollow” or “nofollow” terms represent, it’s a great possibility that your blog does not reward your commentators with links to your site.

If you liked what you read (and for that I humbly thank you for your patience), subscribe to this blog by Email! Follow this blog on Twitter, and on Facebook! You won’t regret. Thanks for passing by 😄 Speak your mind, don’t be shy!

It seems that there’s plugin which allows do-follow back link within word-press blogs. Also plugins used for stopping spammers .
Thanks Daniel for sharing information. It will help bloggers to arrange dofollow and also avoid spamming .

Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it waas extremely long) so I
guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing.

Do you have any points for first-time blog writers?
    I’d definitely appreciate it.

You could at least offer a more elaborate comment in exchange for the “useful information”.

You’re welcome! When you make your mind to change the platform from blogger to a wordpress on your own domain, it’ll add some value as well.

I agree! According to Matt Cutts, comments are good as long as it is relevant to what is posted in a web page.

Thank you for sharing this do follow information.

To comment on a post is to express what you have to say in the matter described in that post! To let your link to be a “do-follow” is a courtesy to reward the commenter for taking his time to say his opinion:)

I am very happy to see you think like this. Dofollow links make the internet go round, so to say. It is the motivating factor for many, otherwise maybe uninterested, people to comment on your page, and before commenting also read your articles, and maybe even become subscribers, active, regular readers. I understand some are skeptic about it because of the meaningless spam comments they might attract, but as you said, those can be taken care of with a few simple plugins, while comments that are obviously written by someone real can only add to the page’s popularity. So I think helping each other is more important than blocking everyone because of some bots. Thank you for your generosity! Flora

I’ve stated already about the “dofollow”-ness of my blog, but comments so unrelated with anything expressed are an exaggeration. You deserve all to not be approved, because you hardly offer anything good in exchange. At least be literate, don’t let me edit your nonsense. I let this to pass, as an example, it’ll not happen again. If people thought I need to be praised just for a link, they’re wrong. I’m an advocate of internet cleanliness, gentleness, accuracy… There is a place for everybody. You need to be dirty, go to facebook if they accept your rudeness.

And now your wish came true :). Only your blog is nowhere to be found, and it’s not my fault. You have to ask the guys from that free service, blogspot, why they shut it off!
