Vampires

February 21, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 3 Comments

Sometimes Vampires Suck. Sometimes they say Let Me In. They never shine, they never walk in daylight and definitively they don’t procreate, like they did in the last Twilight Saga series Part One, beside that. So, there will be a part two as well. It is not amazing how such a non-film can be pushed out to this amazing kind of success. The Moneymakers play with the already brainwashed kids of our times and transform every nonsense into a great source of wealth, in the detriment of culture, of quality, of value. Of course, I’m exaggerating, because a crap like “Twilight” offer some value to the already mentioned kids, emos, goths, and such.

They’re frustrated by everything, so only a nonsense like this one can satisfy their unfilled emptiness. It hurts. They hurt. What are they calling it? Vampire-themed fantasy romance? If this is “vampire-themed”, it is something that normal people can do without. I can’t imagine that any emo or goth in his right mind can appreciate Twilight.

Closer to the "vampire" idea (vampire Armand)

The movie links are from Amazon, so if you want to see some quality at home, you can buy them. I haven’t put a link to Stephenie Meyer’s stuff because I don’t recommend it. I don’t recommend and I quite think that an awakened human will not even pay attention to that disturbing time waste, and every thing who’ll follow. The Cineplexes and Movieplexes which expensively bought the movie deserve to crack, the editor who printed the trash deserves to rot in the debtor’s prison, because most of the time the stupidity and continuously cheating of the public must be drastically punished. Twilight, the first movie/novel of the series was relevant. There is nothing more to say. It crushed all the rules, it is alienating. There is a logic in the supernatural too. There is a logic in Science Fiction, in Fantasy. There is magic. In Twilight there is no magic. We were taught “vampires” by Bram Stoker, Ann Rice, Brian Lumley (how I love Brian Lumley with his “Necroscope“). Like Isaac Asimov’s robots, vampires have rules. Fantastic rules, but otherwise they wouldn’t have any logic. I know there’s no logic, but just a little drive, to make you eager to turn the page, or to wait the next scene. Bill Condon is the director of Dreamgirls. He directed this last “Breaking Dawn Part One”. Unbelievable. So money don’t smell for good people as well, which is very disappointing.

Matt Lanter and Jenn Proske in "Vampires Suck"

Vampires Suck is a comedy which is nonetheless worse than the “saga”, mocking the bad acting and the screenplay to brilliance. It is funny, or at least my idea of funny :). I like Will Ferrell as well, and I also consider A Night at the Roxbury one of the deadliest funny movies ever made. No offense, so now you know my alternative opinion on this too. Very bad choice for the title, something like “Vampires Are Trendy” would have done better.

Chloë Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee

The other one mentioned, Let Me In, is a re-make of the Swedish Let the Right One In, with the already acclaimed kids Chloë Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Sensitive, very good acted and very good produced. I don’t think it deserved a smaller rate than the Swedish original, which makes the top 250 on imdb, but it is considerably closer expressing the “vampire” idea, way closer. That’s all! Anything to say more, you’re welcome. I shall let anything but spam to be published :). And because Oscar Awards are very close, you may have a reminder with the last year post on the theme, or in one more recent, about the nominee list. [All pictures are from imdb]

I totally agree and couldn’t have said it better! I can’t believe the drivel that passes for “best selling” fiction. I wouldn’t read the Twilight series even if I were stranded on an island; what a waste of paper! It’s offends my artistic sensibilities to think of romance interwoven into vampire horror.

True horror lovers know to stick with the best at their craft: H.P. Lovecraft, E.A. Poe, Clive Barker, Ramsey Campbell, Brian Lumley, Dan Simmons, Richard Matheson, Graham Masterton, Robert McCammon, John Skipp etc.

Welcome Sherrie! I was a little bit too aggressive, and I think I need to re-edit some things, not much, only the extreme stuff. It’s a matter of tastes, after all :). Thanks for passing by and the supportive words, here and on G+ :).
