"We will not allow historical incidents to be taken out of their genuine context, and be used as a tool to campaign against our country," are the words said by the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after Pope Francis urged the Christian European Lieders to recognize the killing of "up to 1.5 million Armenians"[sic] by the Ottoman Empire soldiers in 1915 as "the first genocide of the twentieth century". Not only that, but His Holiness urged the international community to recognize it as … [Read more...]

Pi Day, Make a Pie!
Yesterday was the PI Day, as every March, 14 day is, every year. But yesterday was special because the year we are in is 2015. The English spoken world spells the year as "15". So, writing the day, today, we have 3.14.15. Coincidentally, 15 are the following decimals after 14, "3.14" being the general and the most often used abbreviation of what "Pi" represents. [source: Pinterest] First nine decimals of π can be represented by just giving the exact date and time at nine twenty six and … [Read more...]
When a Sport Becomes an Art
I have been truly impressed by Danny MacAskill in 2009 when he released the first video presented on this post. I really wanted to show just a few videos here, without too many explanations, since they are very explicit, but a post is a post and it needs words, at least in my book. What follows is about mountain bike trials, the street trial section, a sport, a hobby, an activity pushed to unimaginable levels by this Scottish phenomenon named Danny MacAskill. Careful When You Publish “News”
Not once I've seen "respectable" news blogs or media online publications wannabe, just filling the space in order to keep daily posting alive. If you leave the announcement short, without too many insider details, avoiding to be too specific on what you already snatched from another respectable media publication, you avoid also the ridicule. The problem appears when you try to correct the author with a polite comment, and tell him where the fault is. He can check, modify, and thank you after … [Read more...]
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Is Now, the New Turkish President
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is the "Man of the People". I have featured Turkish Prime Minister many times in my blogs. I had a grudge against him from long ago, when he played the dissident and became the most freely advertised politician in Turkish history, maybe just a little bit less than Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. [source] I have been wrong all along, because after years of bad mouthing him, as a two faced painted Taliban, I now admire him without restraint. I am a little bit ("just a little … [Read more...]
About Olive Oil, an Ingredient for Life
I have spent a few important years in Turkey. The rural population consider it an important olive oil producer and exporter. Fortunately, the villagers who own olive trees, have also virgin olive oil. Unfortunately, one cannot find in supermarkets something remotely closer even to that, because what is sold for the rest of Turkey, is obviously refined. Actually a very few know for real, because it can be sometimes a physical impossibility to tell the difference while not having comparison … [Read more...]
