31 Comedies

Wil Ferrell in Semi-Pro

The following, is yet another list with comedies I liked and I couldn't consider "The Best". They can't be all "The Best". They start with the year of release, the order has nothing to do with my preferences. Of course, I like some of them more than others. All Pics are from www.imdb.com, a site whith an excess of Facebook on it. It's not simpler to connect through Facebook, it's just creepier.   Wag the Dog Relesed in 1997 imdb 7.1 97 min. Director: Barry … [Read more...]

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Confessions of a Shopaholic - poster

This is a "romantic comedy" released in 2009 under Jerry Bruckheimer's production company. It is under-rated (just a poor 5.6 on imdb), as almost all comedies. As a comedy it is one of the most funny things I saw in the genre, meaning the "romantic" genre, otherwise in this matter, I already have my opinions. You have already enjoyed my best 20 comedies list. [source] [all the other pictures as well, are credited to the same source] It's hard to imagine a film rated more than 6 out of … [Read more...]

The Dictator

Admiral General Aladeen, marching through New York to speaking in front of UN

This post will start with the trailer, so you'll know from the beginning of what I'm talking about, especially because usually, I don't make a summary. I used to put sometimes the trailer at the end , but there, at the end, you'll have a short piece of the action I found to be much more important.     The Dictator is a 6.5 imdb rated comedy, which I haven't taken seriously until Sacha Baron Cohen spilled some ashes on the "company man" Ryan Seacrest, at the Oscars Gala in February … [Read more...]

Borat

November 6, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

Borat is one of the most hilarious films I've ever seen, and it's on my favorites list. I'm not sure if this movie made Sacha Baron Cohen one of the most popular actors through the American public. It is a metaphor, it is ironic, it is brilliant. The mockumentary concept is not new, but was triple refined in this case. Borat is one of the best comedies ever made, it made my Best 20, and not only. I'm afraid, it wasn't wholly appreciated in USA and in Romania. You see, the Romanians are very … [Read more...]

Best 20 Comedies – The List

July 6, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 7 Comments

This is my list, it's very personal and I have to confess that I have had real difficulties to make it short, not with hundreds of items even if they may be so, because I watched with very few exceptions, a lot of the movies on other lists, some of them too old, other just praised or named "comedies" I don't know why. Anyway, the following list (I may have put just a slideshow here, but I don't really like to push you to click and to click more, to finally find the first position) is a list with … [Read more...]

The comical design

The Different Levels of Frat Pack

It is a mystery for me of when I felt attracted to Will Ferrell's antics, I can't recall it at all, but I'm sure now that he is one of my favorite comic actors alive, and if I try to judge deeper of what kind of movies I'm digging lately, he became one of my favorite actors, along with what was called The Frat Pack after the movie Old School, meaning Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson and without any doubt, Jack Black, even if this one wasn't playing maybe in the movie. … [Read more...]
