BAFTA 2014 Awards – The Winners

February 17, 2014 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

Uma Thurman at BAFTA 2014

Very predictable winners, at least at the major categories, and the British ones, of course. As the original Academy of whom BAFTA is just a copycat, the winners in each category is voted by their fellow peers, actors by actors, writers by writers and directors by directors, you understand very well, I hope, what I mean. I'm really sorry for not expressing my predictions a little bit earlier, but major work has intervened and I'm really happy to even be in time with this post. The whole list of … [Read more...]

STARmeter 2013 – Top 100 in the Movies

Margot Robbie

A little late this year with the popularity list (the second time I publish it), but I don't think it really matters. I see a lot of people missing from the first one hundred, meaning "who's hot right now" from last year. You can compare the two lists if you want. The list and the pictures are theirs (imdb), the words are mine. I had a few foe everyone, even if I know her/him or not. A lot of young blood here, you'll see. 1. Margot Robbie 2 July 1990, Gold Coast, Queensland, … [Read more...]

BAFTA 2014: Nominees, a List

January 26, 2014 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

Christian Bale in "American Hustle"

This year BAFTA Nominees' list, comes from LA Times. Usually, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards Ceremony, takes place before the Oscars, this year, it will be on Sunday, February 16'th. They have four categories outstanding the fact that this is a British thing, not American, otherwise it would have been a poor copycat of the Oscars. So, not much imagination here, as well. I have watched a few of the movies en vogue, and I sadly confess that I'm not impressed at all. But I … [Read more...]

Oscars: Nominations 2014

The Wolf of Wall Street - poster

I have waited with publishing the 86'th Academy Awards Nominations a week after the official announcement, because other movie or movie related ceremonies already happened, so they have their place on this blog, some of them in premiere. Actually, I wanted to wait one other week, because it's no hurry. The ceremony will take place Sunday, March 2'nd, just one day after Film Independent Spirit Awards and Golden Rapsberry Awards, known better as "Razzies". Best picture "12 Years a … [Read more...]

Critics’ Choice Movie Awards 2014

19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards - Leonardo DiCaprio

Another premiere on my blog this year is Critics' Choice Movie Awards, an important event in the world of cinema today. The ceremony took place on January 16'th this year, so this list with the nominees and winners is here just for the record, as well with the full show's youtube video at the end of the post. The Critics' Choice Movie Awards was formerly known as the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award, and the ceremony has been organized annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association … [Read more...]

People’s Choice Awards 2014

January 22, 2014 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 2 Comments

Sandra Bullock and Heidi Klum

Because this year marks the 40th anniversary of the People's Choice Awards, I have decided to make an inaugural post with them, even if I don't really believe in "people's choice". The voting for this "awards" is online, so everybody got its chance to have a say! The People's Choice Awards is an American awards show, recognizing the people and the work of popular culture, in movies, television and music, with fifty eight categories. Again, I found the best format for the list here, on CNN, but … [Read more...]
