Battlestar Galactica

August 20, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 4 Comments

I liked a lot this series, one of the best sci-fi I've seen on television. With an exquisite distribution, Edward James Olmos as Admiral William Adama, Mary McDonnell as Laura Roslin, Jamie Bamber as Cpt. Lee 'Apollo' Adama, James Callis as Dr. Gaius Baltar, Tricia Helfer as Number Six, Grace Park as Lt. Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii, Katee Sackhoff as Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace, Michael Hogan as Colonel Saul Tigh, Aaron Douglas as Chief Galen Tyrol, Tahmoh Penikett as Captain Karl 'Helo' Agathon, … [Read more...]

56 Movies or, The Year 2008 in Cinema

Dev Patel in Slumdog Millionaire

It seems year 2008 is my favorite year regarding movie production, in the new millennium so far. It is the year of The Dark Knight (8.9) and Slumdog Millionaire (8.2). It is the year of Twilight, the iconic start of a successful saga in a genre I thought was "made up" for a special category of kids, the "Young Adult" genre. Anyway, that was the time when I have heard for the first time of them. I know, Sarah Michelle Gellar already made Buffy the Vampire Slayer famous on American Television … [Read more...]

I hope you recognize the wonderful city! I expect you to recognize the places and my source, as well. Because the pictures aren't mine, the eyes behind the camera are the eyes of a very sensitive and successful man. Of course there is no doubt now! But the interesting … [Read more...]

Prison Break

December 12, 2011 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 6 Comments

Four seasons of contrariety, a perfect start, an amazing idea, continued up to exhaustion, when the creators and actors had a good time with public patience. A very highly rated series, highly rated on imdb, my favorite source of feedback, even for something as trivial as the television. Television for some, DVD releases for others, Prison Break is a drama series created by Paul Scheuring and broadcasted on The Fox Broadcasting Company for four seasons, during 2005 and 2009. Great success, two … [Read more...]

Greenberg, an American domestic drama

Greenberg - Rhys Ifans

I can say that I like a lot Ben Stiller. Greenberg is the last movie I saw, in which Stiller is starring with verve, the last I've liked him, not having the patience to wait Little Fockers to end, mostly because of Alba ("Andy Garcia") and the screenplay. The "top critics" from Rotten Tomatoes, with all the good leverage from the public and the votes on imdb, (6.2  out of 10) can only to express themselves in a neighing concerto, almost dismembering Stiller's performance, acclaiming Gerwig's. … [Read more...]

Science Fiction – District 9

April 26, 2011 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 2 Comments

District 9

I have never imagined that District 9 is such a good movie. It is one of the best films I ever seen, it goes with my top list of all time favorites, and it's mostly a science fiction, a genre I've always liked, but I rarely have had the opportunity to watch such a good one. Here, the science fiction is actually just a cover for deeper messages, but it is a good cover. The Adaptation The film story is an adaptation from a shortie named Alive in Joburg, directed by Blomkamp and produced by … [Read more...]
