The Revenant is a 2015 superb adventure drama directed by previous year's Best Director, Alejandro González Iñárritu. It is by far the most artistically beautiful movie in all the eight Oscar 2016 nominees. I regret now that I haven't begun the Oscars reviews marathon with this one, because it revealed itself to be my favorite in all eight. This is partially based on the novel with the same name written by Michael Punke in 2002. [source] The Revenant's History It is funny that in … [Read more...]

Jim Jarmusch’s Dead Man
Dead Man is a 1995 American movie written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. It is a Western-Drama-Fantasy with Johnny Depp and Gary Farmer, shot entirely in black and white. Johnny took his hat from Benny and Joon and carried magisterially on. I always wanted to feature Jim Jarmusch in Movie Personalities, because I'm a huge fan. I'm going to treat this more seriously. Like all his other movies (I think I have seen them all), Dead Man is a cult movie. It is a fantastic story pictured as a … [Read more...]

The Imitation Game is a 2014 thriller directed by Morten Tyldum, with a screenplay by Graham Moore based on the biography "Alan Turing: The Enigma" by Andrew Hodges. They have been in the possession of such a specimen and they tried to … [Read more...]
Boyhood
Boyhood is a 2014 American movie written and directed by Richard Linklater, of Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight fame. I have hurried to include it in my Oscars reviews this year, because it is nominated for Best Picture, and for another three important categories, Best Original Screenplay (Richard Linklater), Best Supporting Actor (Ethan Hawke) and Best Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette). This movie is very special because it was filmed with the same actors on a period of … [Read more...]
Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon
Barry Lyndon is a 8.1 imdb rated movie, written, produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. It has been released in 1975, and was based on the novel "The Luck of Barry Lyndon" written in 1844 by William Makepeace Thackeray, the author of the famous "Vanity Fair". It made the top 250 best of all times movies on the same imdb, which is great, considering even very low quality consumerist movies like The Avengers are figured on that list. Before telling more about it, I think that Barry Lyndon is … [Read more...]
