My Beautiful Turkey, a Lucid Love With or Without Erdoğan

February 13, 2021 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

President Erdoğan trying to be eloquent in front of his Party members

I love Istanbul, as being the most beautiful city in the world. Complementary I love Turkey as a whole, and even if in the past I have projected a Dogville vision on her, I felt justified at the time, otherwise nothing budged my really deep good feelings. They are logical, subjective, and objective, based on my own experience and research, both locally and outside. I consider my views to be broader than the official version the Turks are subjected to. I met a lot of people, I dealt with a lot of … [Read more...]

Our Brand Is Crisis – A Highly Underrated Political Drama

June 12, 2017 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

Sandra Bullock in Our Brand is Crisis

Our Brand is Crisis, a movie released in 2015, is about politics and the dirty game of winning a Presidential election. It's happening in Bolivia, the former Spanish territory exploited for silver and tin. The name came from "El Libertador", the Venezuelan hero Simon Bolivar. He had a crucial role in the establishment of several South American states' independence from Spanish rule. One of them is Bolivia. [source of all pics: imdb.com]   Plot Jane is a political strategist, she … [Read more...]

A Few Words About Henry Kissinger

June 15, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

Noticing Henry Kissinger's name on a book exhibition recently, gave me the idea of a few inquires on this man's activity. I know that there are people who think that Vigilant Citizen is a much better source for underground news, but I have a feeling their "news" are highly exaggerated. I am a believer in logical information expressed with patience and wit. I even believe what happened in the book Trance-Formation of America, and you know why? Just because it was written with logic and wit. It … [Read more...]

George Clooney Again, With an Oscar Nomination

February 10, 2012 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

The Ides of March is another film made by George Clooney, and it was launched in 2011 by Sony Pictures Entertainment. It got a 7.4 imdb rate the moment I'm writing this post. A good political movie, actually a very good one. It's nominated for an Oscar for the Best Writing for an Adapted Screenplay, on which the screenwriters are George Clooney again, Grant Heslov, and Beau Willimon (the play writer of "Farragut North", the 2008 play used as inspiring platform for the film). Idus Martii … [Read more...]

My Twitter Rules – Part Two

July 11, 2011 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 4 Comments

In a previous post, I have inserted a funny video with Obama. I made it because there is a Twitter account in President Obama's name, ran by his Social Media staff, and that we are in free countries. I liked the video, and I had to put it there. It is called sometimes, political satire, :) I have ended the previous post with Facebook, actually that was what drained my mood. I don't hate Facebook, the "war" between them with Google is really annoying. The obligatorily "connect through your … [Read more...]

Osama by Obama

May 2, 2011 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 2 Comments

President Obama announced yesterday in an historic live statement from the White House that Osama Bin Laden has been killed. "We give thanks to the men who carried out this operation," he said, citing those who pulled off the mission in Pakistan as exemplifying patriotism at its finest. "America can accomplish anything we set our mind to",  Obama added, calling the completed mission the "most significant achievement to date in the fight against Al Qaeda." CNN, The Wall Street … [Read more...]
