La La Land is... wow! Such an incredible soap, a soap balloon, a delusion. There must be something wrong with me, or it is that Damien Chazelle has made a pact with the devil, like that guy in Shortcut to Happiness, "Jabez Stone" (played by Alec Baldwin). Boys and girls, I don't get it, how it received so many Golden Globes, why is all the fuss, and why such a huge imdb rate (8.8 at the time I write this review)? I think I'm missing something. The Big Short – Another Wall Street Movie
The Big Short is another movie on the Best Pictures nominees list this year. I am a very big admirer of all the guys involved with it, actors, the director, the book's author, etc, but I feel that I have to mention a few things from the beginning. Nor them, nor the figures are appropriate, or even close to … [Read more...]
The Believer
The Believer is a 2001 Ryan Gosling drama movie, directed and written by Henry Bean. It is said and strongly believed that this is the role launching Gosling's career at Hollywood. He was and is better than just a good looking guy amongst other thousands. He is very talented, no matter what lists were made after his apparition in The Notebook. [source] You already know that I do not reveal the plot of the movie I'm reviewing even if it's already a classic. I'd like that my readers to be … [Read more...]
George Clooney Again, With an Oscar Nomination
The Ides of March is another film made by George Clooney, and it was launched in 2011 by Sony Pictures Entertainment. It got a 7.4 imdb rate the moment I'm writing this post. A good political movie, actually a very good one. It's nominated for an Oscar for the Best Writing for an Adapted Screenplay, on which the screenwriters are George Clooney again, Grant Heslov, and Beau Willimon (the play writer of "Farragut North", the 2008 play used as inspiring platform for the film). Idus Martii … [Read more...]
