Spain Is in Pain

June 19, 2014 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

The World Football Champion en titre, meaning Spain, is not going to qualify after the groups stage. In the meantime, King Juan Carlos, abdicated in favor of his son, Felipe IV.

They have one more match in Group B, with Australia, ant it won’t be a surprise if they will manage a nil match. Group B is the group which will give the two contenders against Group A, in the “eighths”. I have heard some football specialists that this year the final can’t have any European team here. I beg to differ, after I have seen again The Netherlands and Germany. Actually the Dutch team has been the first to crush the Spaniards after a rewarding total play.

Vicente Del Bosque, Spain’s National Team the manager, had always such flaws, but it is obvious that’s not his fault this time. He came from the reputed Real Madrid (younger, he has been a Real’s player too), to train the Turkish Beşiktaş, after they have lost the reins of their championship. It was a team which trained and reformed actually by the Romanian Mircea Lucescu, became Turkey’s Champion, after many years. With a small budget, the Romanian manager has put the bases of a new game. The next year’s championship, the players were too “famous” to be stopped and started to act as there are no referees on the pitch. Sanctions started in a row, and Lucescu resigned. The management, in its aloofness and pride, hired the great Del Bosque from Real Madrid, instead to hire a local. They payed. Beşiktaş never recover. He did nothing to prove he is a great trainer. He was as aloof as his rich employers.

But the life goes on and he has been hired to train the National Team, so he started to work again.

Spain won UEFA European Championship in 2008, with Luis Aragonés as coach, the World Cup in South Africa, in 2010, with Del Bosque, after a memorable final match against The Netherlands, UEFA European Championship in 2012. A pity.

Today, the new King of Spain, swore on their Constitution and start reigning after his father, Juan Carlos. If you visit Wikipedia, you’ll see how funny it’s stated under his picture, “King of Spain, Reign: June 19 2014 – present, Enthronement 19 June 2014”.

You have the screen shot above. About Felipe VI, he has studies of Law in Madrid, some Economics and a Master in Espionage (“Foreign Service Science”), in USA, at Georgetown University. Long Live the King!
