What you have to do, without fear (of Google, of course) and with a lot of sense of responsibility, it is at first to read what follows below. It is a post about SEO, and about measurement. The rest, all the rest actually, is a myth. If anything will change before the end of this year, or the next, will keep these following lines. So, what are the elements helping your site/blog to rank better, constantly good? The information is compiled from Search Engine Land with sending to various other expert sources. I appreciate a lot the modesty, but I have rarely seen such a concise and nicely explained facts. A lot of people are SEO “experts”, but the guys from Search Metrics are close to perfection.

Content:
High quality, relevant content ranks better on average, and is identifiable by properties such as comprehensive wording in regard to the co-occurrence of related terms in the context, a higher word-count and media enrichment.
Isn’t that what should have always be the most important element? The content? Of course. Good content is king, no matter you stuff yours with quality sexy pictures. It’ll be real bad when there are not many other things besides your pictures on your site, they can’t be your only content, unless they are yours, and you are a visual artist. When you just copy stuff from deviantart and 500.com, you are a cheater and sooner or later you’re going to be disqualified by the search engines. Oh, and I also read somewhere that over nine hundred words per article are better than less. Could be boring for some people, and you need them too.
Technology:
A well optimized technical performance of a page contributes to a good ranking, such as, robust site architecture with an optimal internal linking structure, short on page-loading times and presence of meta tags.
You need Genesis, it’s clear and logical. You need WordPress and Genesis. I’m very disappointed by “rainmaker”, also a WordPress + Genesis related thing. They will do the difference between the “rich” bloggers and the rest of the population.
Backlinks:
The quantity and quality of backlinks remains crucial.
Related backlinking can’t do anything wrong. I hate people who begged me to exchange links with them a few years ago, and now they keep blackmailing me of complaining to Google if I don’t remove them. It’s insane, they also say that they will report my site as one they have paid to put their links there. I hope Google bots are more professional than such “webmasters”.
Social Signals:
The correlation values regarding coefficients out of the social sector have slightly decreased. The growth of the average total number of signals per position is rather small.
If you hope to promote your site just through Social Media, you’re wrong. I had a feeling that Google Analytics doesn’t count visits resulted after Twitter clicks, and not only that. Most of the time there is a great bouncing rate with visits from social sites. Even if the traffic seems great, after a post to reddit for sample, the visitors don’t feel to search more, and if they do, it’s rare. I remember that old saying that instead of a million average followers on Twitter, just a few thousands of quality friends are a million time better. I’m not sure of that, but statistics say that there is not conversion from social.
User Signals:
For the first time, user signals were measured and as expected there is a relation between rankings and higher click-through rates, lower bounce rates and a high time-on-site.
That’s it, people have to crave over your words, your written words, they have to study your posts and click on all of your exposed links, because it’s your work, and they are your explanation.
You also need to express some sort of authorship with bing as well. I thing it is not something bad. Bing and Yahoo! use the same algorithms.
Good luck, fellows. Blog constantly and with great taste!
