Ravi Shankar died a few days ago. A great loss. They say he was a Pandit. Maybe it is too much, a pandit is some polymath equivalent in Hindu tradition. A pandit is "a scholar and a teacher, particularly one skilled in the Sanskrit language, who has mastered the four Vedic scriptures, Hindu rituals, Hindu law, religion, music, and philosophy under a Guru in a vedic school" (Wikipedia). Now Mr. Shankar played the sitar. He played it from an early age, until he played it with great internationally … [Read more...]

Wet Shaving Update
As an update to my post The Art of Wet Shaving, I wanted to show you a video on double edged shaving blades making. This following one was filmed at Croma factory in Germany. As I said in the mentioned post, the form of the blade as we know now, came in 1904. Gillette's 1904 patents gave it the power to block entry into the installed base of handles that it would create. While other firms could and did enter the replaceable-blade market with their own handles and blades, no one could … [Read more...]
Sandy
Very sad what happened in the United States because of Sandy. I just want to express my compassion for the affected people. I have dear friends in New York and the surroundings. All my hope for the better! [source] This above, is a "fake" one year old. Being so representative, now it can be considered an art-piece. It came on my second row of pics on a search for "sandy" on google images. It's because my settings, or maybe it's just viral. My feelings are not as short as this post. … [Read more...]
Almost Trash
I've seen in less than a week, three bad movies, and I started to see but never letting the player more than half an hour (lot of time actually, half an hour is too valuable), another two or three movies. This is personal, of course, but anyway, I think that if I don't consider Police Academy series mentionable in my Best 20 Comedy list, I'm not quite deranged, am I? I just wanted to let you know, maybe you can give a better use to your time, and it's not my intent at all to provoke you to … [Read more...]
New Sub-Categories
I think to add two or maybe three sub-categories to Motion Picture, with actors and actresses biographies, one by one, some personal opinions on them and so on. Of course, there will be people I like and people I don't agree with all the time. I had this in mind for a long time now, wanted to start with Robert Downey, Jr., just because he had crossed my way more often. I started actually with Sacha Baron Cohen, on the Romanian blog, which used to be a category on this one, you read now. I've … [Read more...]
