Mr. Robot Is a Show Ahead of Its Time, but Not Too Much

May 4, 2020 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

Christian Slater and Rami Malek in Mr. Robot

Mr. Robot is another favorite show, premiered online by video on demand, on May 27, 2015. Shortly after that, the first season officially started on USA Network, on June 24, the same year. So came the second in 2016, the third in 2017, and eventually the fourth in 2019, a little bit forced if you ask me, but the important thing is that both public and critics generally liked it. I also want to say that even if I rarely offer spoilers in my reviews, this time, especially considering what happens … [Read more...]

Breaking Bad, an Awesome Show With Public Drive

October 16, 2019 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

Breaking Bad Poster

I was in Turkey when Breaking Bad started airing on CNBC-e, in original, subtitled. This was the only channel with such features, and I was glad it exists and bought distribution rights for many more. I had a lot on my hands then, so, I wasn't all eyes and ears watching the pilot. Besides, a crime drama with Malcolm in the Middle's Bryan Cranston and the newcomer Aaron Paul? Let's be serious. Anyway, I was wrong. As Vince Gilligan, Breaking Bad show's creator, said once, during the last … [Read more...]

America’s Got Talent Judge, Mel B, Is Soooo Confused…

August 13, 2018 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

Mel B in all her splendor

America's Got Talent upgraded its position in my preferences list, out passing Saturday Night Live by far. Lorne Michael's guys seem to be still in awe regarding Trump's victory in the 2016 US elections, still expressing unconditioned and even the dumbest support for Madam Clinton and the Democrats. Alec Baldwin's performance as Donald Trump is in decline, McKinnon's appearances are less and less comic. In the meantime, as I have previously stated, America's Got Talent became better and … [Read more...]

Caprica, Battlestar Galactica’s Prequel, a Prematurely Cancelled Show

May 14, 2018 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

The first cylon - Caprica

I wish the difference between Mad Men and Caprica to be that Caprica had meaning and Mad Men was just time filling, otherwise, in both shows almost everyone smokes, drinks and frakks (to use the already established denomination for the urban four letter word). Oh, they also have Brian Markinson in common, the cuckold Dr. Rosen from Mad Men. This was just a joke. I think that even if you can hastily judge Caprica as corny, the series is remarkable. Remarkable, but not enough loved by public at … [Read more...]

America’s Got Talent – the 12th Season Already Rocks

June 19, 2017 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 2 Comments

The unmistakable Tyra Banks

One of my favorite TV shows, America's Got Talent, just started its 12thy season, on May 30, on NBC. One Million Dollars has to be won by the one chosen from the public at home. The first episode in Qualifications stage was already full of wonders. After the first contestant, a chicken called Jocku who played a keyboard without fault, you start to wonder like Dewey Cox, "How can we beat this?". That's right. Besides great voices, great dancers, amazing magic numbers and physical tricks, you face … [Read more...]

Laura Bretan in the Finals – America’s Got Talent

September 11, 2016 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 1 Comment

Laura Bretan and the season 11's AGT finalists

America's Got Talent ( #AGT ) is a live show aired by NBC every year for eleven years in a row. It is part of the "Got Talent" franchise created by Simon Cowell, who decided to join the jury this season, following Howard Stern's retreat. I have to confess that this is one of my favorite reality shows and Simon Cowell one of my favorite judges no matter where he appears, on Idol or on AGT. The other members of the Jury are Howie Mandel (from Season 5), Mel B (Season 8) and Heidi Klum (who also … [Read more...]
