The comical design

The Different Levels of Frat Pack

It is a mystery for me of when I felt attracted to Will Ferrell's antics, I can't recall it at all, but I'm sure now that he is one of my favorite comic actors alive, and if I try to judge deeper of what kind of movies I'm digging lately, he became one of my favorite actors, along with what was called The Frat Pack after the movie Old School, meaning Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson and without any doubt, Jack Black, even if this one wasn't playing maybe in the movie. … [Read more...]

Glengarry Glen Ross – The Real Estate Movie

Glengarry Glen Ross - Alec Baldwin

What ever was thought about the Real Estate business, one needs schooling, one needs spontaneity and presence of spirit along with the little spark of luck necessary everywhere in life, it is indeed, “a tough rocket”, as Alec Baldwin says here in one of the best performances he ever did on the big screen. In the small and undeveloped countries where the newbie thinks he can make a living by selling real estate, is even tougher, because the average guy doesn't have the education to make a … [Read more...]

Science Fiction – District 9

District 9

I have never imagined that District 9 is such a good movie. It is one of the best films I ever seen, it goes with my top list of all time favorites, and it's mostly a science fiction, a genre I've always liked, but I rarely have had the opportunity to watch such a good one. Here, the science fiction is actually just a cover for deeper messages, but it is a good cover. The Adaptation The film story is an adaptation from a shortie named Alive in Joburg, directed by Blomkamp and produced by … [Read more...]

Bruckheimer

Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock

If you want any great movie subject to look cheap and utterly unbelievable, as in brainwashing unbelievable, you give it to Jerry to produce that movie. If Inception would have been produced by the “action” master, it would have been now a merely 7.0 imdb rated, and that owed maybe to Leo, if he would accept to act in that conditions. Returning to Bruckheimer, it seems he’s trying to throw back the old Hollywood pattern, which guided the movie makers for decades: “A film is a story, … [Read more...]

Last Wall Street Movie

Oliver Stone

I have to research more on Oliver Stone, because I think I'm starting to like him more than I did. He made great movies, is considered a great director, but presenting at Hollywood a thing so opposite to the official governmental version as JFK (1991), made me think of a fraud somewhere. Oh, I liked him because he promoted the insignificant guys who think the contrary of themselves, showing some real trashes of talent from everyone. [source] But he shows some all talent as well, and I'm … [Read more...]

The Social Network

February 10, 2011 By Daniel Mihai Popescu Leave a Comment

With all the incredible  sympathy feeling The Social Network movie awoke in me, I still don't have a Facebook account. But I want to make a correction. Of course not all the movies nominated for Oscars deserve the nomination. They cheapened this fact widening the number, for the second year in a row. By "they", I mean "the Academy". So the winner will be greater. With the SAG Award now as another push in the morale, the production team for The King's Speech feels closer to the award than ever. … [Read more...]
