Switch to Twitter Cards ASAP – That, only if You Need Conversions!

July 31, 2016 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 2 Comments

I'm writing this more as an advice than a tutorial, also explaining the differences between Twitter posts with pictures and posts with the Twitter cards enabled. It is simple and necessary at the same time, especially if you have some nice pictures to illustrate your posts. Pictures invite to clicks, and every click on it sends the reader to your blog post which potentially leads to a conversion, especially if you have something to offer. Even if you don't sell a service or a product, since you … [Read more...]

How To Create Shortcodes for Adding Adverts in Your Posts

July 1, 2015 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 6 Comments

adsense adverts into blog posts

If you are not blogging just for pleasure, you need to display ads on your site, on your sidebar, on your header, wherever you consider them necessary. In order to protect your Wordpress site from being penalized by the mighty Google, you have to display your ads moderately. I'm sure that almost all the Wordpress.org sites users know how to deal around with theme customizations, code snippets, and other modifications. Just in case, and for the rest of proudly WP users, I want to show here a … [Read more...]

Rich Pins – Awesome!

How a rich pin looks. This is a "recipe" rich pin

Pinterest for Business launched Rich Pins are Pins that automatically include extra details on the Pin. When you use Rich Pins, you make your Pins more useful to Pinners who are looking for the the information they need to make the recipe, plan the trip, or buy the product. Rich Pins are designed to help your business stand out in search results. (It also helps that Rich Pins rank higher in search, too!) And when you stand out on Pinterest, you're more likely to get re-pinned and clicked. … [Read more...]

Google Changes

Christmas at the Aegean Sea

As if the coders are switching jobs between the two Social Media monsters, Google+ changed the "look" of your header profile, "cover photo" or whatever they call it. It is huge and covers a great part of your screen, especially if you use some more toolbars than usual. I've made already the mistake to accept the switching to the "new profile", somehow in a hurry, not taking in consideration that it was irreversible. I thought that usually the changes are for your own good, Google being so much … [Read more...]

Pinterest Tricks

A funny fact for INTJ

Looking for a Pin It button, I found Chykalophia Design. You notice the button right after the post title and somehow asymmetrically. Why do I have it there, and not aligned with the others? Because it was created by Ari Krzyzek from the above mentioned site, and is a combination between the pinmarklet (a bookmarking device one put on the browser's bookmarking toolbar) and a png button. It's not a plugin, it is a piece of code which let you to choose the picture to pin, every time. There … [Read more...]

Video Code and YouTube

May 25, 2011 By Daniel Mihai Popescu 2 Comments

No matter how happy I was for adding Disqus to power my comments, something very useful with all it's items and pingback and tracking, also handy when you comment on a blog who uses it as well, along with this cute socializing thumb symbols on the left of the screen, I have had real problems with youtube embed video code. As I said in a previous post, I had to toggle between "visual" and "HTML" when editing, and guess what happened every time I left "HTML"? The video code evaporated. I realy … [Read more...]
